Box Art Breakdown: Metroid EU

We’re going way back this time. I first linked to this awesome box art some weeks ago while critiquing the cover art for Metroid Prime 3, but it’s so cool that I just couldn’t help giving it its own moment in the spotlight. See below for the full box art and breakdown.

Is that sweet or what? The colors, the fonts, the classic running flip superimposed upon a Samus painting that would look right at home on the side of an 80s arcade cabinet — it’s all brilliant. If I had to criticize anything, I’d say that the cut-off feet look just a bit awkward; but that’s nitpicking.

All in all, virtually flawless. My favorite aspect in particular has to be the standard layout outside the picture itself — so unassuming and simple, yet so effective. On that note, I’ll take cardboard over plastic any day. What do you think?
