Smash Brothers Roundup: Week 10
Nothing too major this week, but Sakurai & Co. revealed a couple cool stages, a classic character, a jump move, and a rather obscure assist trophy. Here’s a rundown:
Week 10 Updates
7/23 — Rumble Falls
7/24 — Yoshi
7/25 — Sky World
7/26 — Footstool Jump
7/27 — Knuckle Joe
Cool to see all these ‘lesser’ characters getting representation via the Assist Trophy feature, isn’t it? Personally, I’m really hoping to see some Earthbound and Animal Crossing characters pop up this way, too. Which reminds me — Ness better be playable :!:

I want Edgar to be an assist trophy. But what he would do is still in question.

I’m sure this won’t be the case, but my first impression of the jump thing is that when you do it you will end up getting A+upped a lot.
“Obscure”? I’m sure Knuckle Joe will be punching you upside the head for that one…
(Isn’t he the opponent dude from Megaton Punch (in Kirby Superstar)?)
Also, I’m sure Ness will be playable. He was in the other two and it really wouldn’t make sense to take him out. Would it?

I didn’t believe it at first, but it looks like edge-fights are going to be crazy.
You called Knuckle Joe obscure? He’s the coolest Kirby character I know! He should be playable!
We need that water thing from Super Mario Sunshine as an item!

Vektron- Quite the opposite. It looks like they are improving it, so it now also functions as a third jump! I hope they don’t nerf his second jump as a result, cause I love his second jump.

Ness and Pikachu are the reason I started Smashing in the first place. He(Ness) better be there.

Ness is one of the more quirkier, fun characters to play. I expect him to remain.

If you refer to Edgar Figaro (FF3/6), screw that; I want Ultros and Chupon to assist.
If I had to pick any Square Enix character, though, it’d be Gato/Gonzales (Chrono Trigger).

So, I really love this site and come here multiple times daily.
I’ve noticed that the posts have been frequent as of late. Its ok, we still love you. Especially since your posts are really about quality rather thatn quality. I’m worried that something is wrong though, with their being less updates and all. Let us readers know if there is anything we can do to help the site.

@ Simon: Yes, Knuckle Joe is the second opponent in Megaton Punch.
I second having the FLUDD as an item, and the Poltergeist 3000, Backpack gameplay rules.

Kirby Superstar was the only kirby game I really enjoyed. If they added it to the virtual console on the wii, i would buy a wii just so i could play Superstar.

I love knuckle joe (since none of you guys seem to know who he is, it’s the ally that comes from kirby’s fighter move, and yes, also in the megaton punch game.) The kirby ally I would REALLY love to see would be bugsy with the suplex moves! He’d grab them with his mandables, jump in the air and slam them on the ground! That would be most awesome!

@Thores – That’s what I meant, was nerfing his second jump. They won’t give him a third jump unless they care bear something else. If Yoshi’s given three jumps, then he’s a hacked character.

I was gonna say that Edgar Figaro would be pretty cool, but Ultros would be awesome. And for that matter, have Shadow burst in and do some sweet Ninja lightning fast moves.

Knuckle Joe isn’t obscure, to me. The thing is, the Kirby Universe has so many cooler characters. I mean, come on, who doesn’t want Dynablade as an assist trophy?
Brawl will be really difficult to make it online enabled. There are so many option to think about (Stock/Time/Bonus/Coin, What items should be on, special modes) that couldn’t be resolved in a random pairing situation. If they make Brawl online, they would have to compromise the customization, that makes the game so likable, in order to conform to the precedent already established by other Nintendo Wifi connection games. Man that was a wordy sentence.
