In an interesting twist on interactive movies sites, it seems that Bruce Willis’ Live Free Or Die Hard is trying to capitalize on the Wii’s motion controls. A game found on the movie website is actually made with Wii controls in mind. The game plays a bit like Wii boxing with Bruce Willis instead of yourself. Complete with Mii look-alikes and a Wii-specific cursor on the interface.
The Wii’s Internet Channel can actually use all of the Wiimote’s features, including the motion control and support for up to 4 players within the browser. I have a feeling once this becomes a better known fact, flash game developers will be making Wii specific games left and right. If you’re interested in some more discussion on the topic, check out an article I wrote on the topic a while back. There is definitely some untapped potential in the Internet Channel.

i see no resemblance between the two images.

Hey, my Opera blog!
At the moment, Nintendo and Opera have only released limited motion sensing abilities for the Internet Channel. Basically you can only use Z-roll and Z-position because both are derived from the IR lights of the Sensor Bar. I look forward to if/when the accelerometers can be used. I have a few (Wii only) samples at http://hullbreachonline.com/wii/sdk.html and http://hllbreachonline.com/wii/spacefox2p.html. They all use the Wii Opera SDK, which I make available by request for Javascript game developers.

I thought that was Alan Ritchson (Smallville’s Aquaman). What’s sad is he comes from my town.
