Downsized or not, the E3 deluge is alive and well. This day has produced lots of great interviews, hands-on previews, videos, and news, so here’s the best stuff all in one place:
Miyamoto Video Interview [IGN]
Miyamoto Video Interview 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 [Kotaku]
Miyamoto/Aonuma Roundtable (text) [IGN]
Mario Galaxy Hands-on [Wired]
Contra 4 Hands-on [Wired]
Geometry Wars Hands-on [Kotaku]
Soul Calibur Legends Hands-on [Wired]
Nitrobike Announcement, Vid [IGN]
Spielberg’s Blocks Vid [IGN]
Mario Vids, Metroid Vids [IGN]
Phew. Also, click here for the official word on Disaster: Day of Crisis and HAMMER, the latter of which appears to have been most unfortunately put on the back burner due to a ’shift in resources.’ Bummer. Oh well, at least all the other news is good.

im really disappointed that Project HAMMER has been put on hold. I guess the shift in resources is that everyone’s focusing on ‘casual games’.
I was really hoping for HAMMER to be released to help round out the more mature game selection for Wii

I’m very happy to read about Contra IV turning out.

Uh, N Rumas, the article regarding HAMMER and Disaster quite includes the very clear and concise statement that “Disaster: Day of Crisis is still in development and coming along nicely.” HAMMER may be on hold, but the guy said quite clearly that Disaster is still in production.

I’m thinking that HAMMER will go on to be the Wii’s Raven Blade, unfortunately.

“Shift of resources”? What else are NST working on? Perhaps they’re getting shut down…

The interviews on Kotaku are very hit and miss. This one guy, who I take to be called Bash, makes some pretty unfair questions, pretty much writing the story with his question. I don’t understand the context of these interviews, because if I had a 10 minute interview with Shiggy I’d want to want more about games and design rather than manufacturing and the fate of E3. But I suppose there may be some restraint on the content, and Nintendo chose Miyamoto as the mouthpiece under the assumption that most people wont ask Shiggy hard questions.

To be honest, this is the first time in e3 history that I haven’t been the least bit interested in it. And it’s not because it was smaller… there was NOTHING new. SO BORING. The games I like the play are a dying breed these days, kind of reminds me of when the Playstation and N64 first came out, and I started playing all the great old pc games I missed instead. Tyrian, Warcraft, Death Rally, Duke Nukem, Epic Pinball, Master of Magic… why am I mentioning all this in an e3 thread? Because it’s so obvious to me that games are not made to be fun anymore.

For me, the most interesting thing at E3 might actually have been the announcement of “Scene It?” for the 360. $60 for the game and 4 wireless trivia buzzers? That’s one of the slickest deals in ages. I’m really hoping they do the obvious, and release an online-enabled You Don’t Know Jack, though. That’d be just killer.

This E3 sucked balls.
