Countless screens, vids, and impressions of Nintendo’s E3 titles are popping up all over the web, and most everything — Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 in particular — looks and sounds fantastic. Here’s the major info and media via Wired and IGN:

As expected, everybody’s crazy about Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy. Dated graphics or not, the former is the only FPS (okay, FPA) that really has me excited, and the latter…well, the latter features Mario in a bee suit. Which is officially brilliant, especially if you’re like me and love bees. Bizarre, a bit twisted, and insanely cute all at the same time
In other news, the PSP revision (which I was really looking forward to) turned out to be pretty mild. So mild, in fact, that I’m just not excited. Certainly looks nice, but where’s the on-board flash memory? Still, very sexy. Finally, click here to check out Chris Kohler’s take on the Big Three’s respective showings in general. A good read as usual.

Maya the Bee is CLASSIC.

Mario is looking awesome. I’m also excited over the fact that there’s apparently even more suits… IGN mentions a Boo one? I’ve not personally seen it yet.
MP3 looks fantastic. It’s been my must have game on the system since before the Wii came out and it’s my must have game still. That and Bioshock are probably my most anticipated releases of the year… well, and Persona 3.

First off, the graphics look beautiful. Honestly though, I really don’t care about if the graphics are dated or not. And it’s a weird thing with 360 and PS3, because in many ways, the graphics can be a bit of a turn-off. And the reason I say this is because the better the graphics get, the more easy it is to spot out the “flaws.” Isn’t that true? But anyway, cannot wait for Super Mario Galaxy. I’m feeling what people call that “Nintendo magic” again. Awesome.

@Matthew - In some ways it’s true, but I think mostly from the mindset that you’re not really setting up yourself to expect something “amazing” from Wii titles graphically because obviously that’s not its real point. With 360/PS3 I think it really just depends on the game… but I know that poor textures in a game on those systems always wind up being more jarring than ones on Wii games because of that mindset lol.

That two-handed zapper really does look awful. Unless they make an old-timey gangster game where I can pretend it’s a tommy gun and go “Nyah! See?” every time I mow down another row of zoot suited hooligans.

Unfortunatly, I haven’t seen any pics of this new-fangled Wii Zapper outside of the initial prototype, which I thought looked cool. Of course, I haven’t held it, so I obviously can’t vogue for it being comfortable…But at least it’s not like the RE:UC won’t be playable without it.
I guess this E3 was a letdown to a lot of people. I suppose it wasn’t as exciting, but truthfully I was very pleased. I got everything I needed. Release dates for SSB:B and Mario Galaxy (along with general ideas for some of the other games I’m interested in, like many of SquEnix’s endevours), more tidbits on NiGHTS, RE:UC, Zack and Wiki and Mario and Sonic, a new Mario Kart for the Wii, plus a couple other intriguing new titles, specifically Forever Blue and Wii Fit (along with Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, which seems kinda silly, but my inner Spidey geek means I’m going to try it anyway).
A phenominal year? Certainly not. As the Wired link stated, this wasn’t really a year of big press conferences. And as they also stated, Nintendo kinda left out some of its more intriguing sounding titles (namely Nintendo Magic and Mario Party DS) entirely. They could have at least slipped in some clips.
Those points aside, I think it wasn’t that bad of an E3…speaking from a Nintendo standpoint. Microsoft’s was kinda a let down. It was nice to see more on Mass Effect and Halo 3, and some other games like Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground looked cool. But there wasn’t anything…big. I was kinda dissapointed by that. Sony was worse though. As expected, MGS 4 didn’t dissapoint, and the new Ratchet and Clank looks great too, but these were titles everyone knew about. Which means the biggest news Sony can muster is a slimmer PSP…
But who knows? It’s only E3. Maybe this sort of a quiet before the real storm.

Mario Galaxy looks awesome!
Tony, you can see the trailer, which shows a glimpse of Mario as a Boo at Joystiq or NintendoWiiFanboy (they also have the Metroid Prime 3 and Knights Trailer)
I was surprised I did not hear any VC news? I know sales have gone down since launch and I wonder if they still care about it. I was hopping for some good VC announcements like adding a new system (Neo-Geo), maybe some indy developers or at least when Super Metroid 3 (SNES) was coming out for the VC
Marco - 07.12.07 5:40 pm
(don’t forget the NiGHTS)
James - 07.12.07 5:45 pm
@ Marco: …Now that ya mention it…it was a little odd that there was no VC news…Huh…I figured they would have at LEAST mentioned Neo-Geo joining the system choices, since they were so adimant about it a few months back…
How odd…
OOF - 07.12.07 5:54 pm
Oh, Sidenote: Bee and Boo Mario? Rock.
OOF - 07.12.07 5:55 pm
That’s a revised PSP?? It looks exactly the same.
Atomsk - 07.12.07 6:24 pm
Very little revision on the PSP: a lot lighter, ds shiny and more memory for better load time. Still not going to get one.
Marco - 07.12.07 8:23 pm
Chris Koehler or whatever his name is must’ve missed Sony’s echo chrome… that title looked awesome: http://sixtyhertz.blog.com/1926824/

I am so psyched for Metroid Prime 3
I’ve never wanted a game so bad before..
it’s completely crushed absolutely every other game at e3 for me.
TakaM - 07.12.07 11:28 pm
Mario is beastly-awesome. I want to see what other suits he can get.
Raccoon, maybe? Frog returns? Squid? I seriously hope there’s a squid.
Metroid looks awesome too.

Grapple chuck! Huzzah! Is it me, or are more and more games channeling Bionic Commando these days? MP3 grapple beam gets more functionality…Contra IV gets a grapple hook…
Regardless…grapple [insert mechanism] = rock!
