If you’re reading 4colorrebellion (or rather, if you’ve ever touched a computer), you’ve more than likely pounded your share of the venerable Cave Story deep into the dust. With its cute graphics and its mind-boggling soundtrack, it’s a game that shouldn’t be trapped within the boundaries of a single platform.
And well, thanks to the hardworking RavenWorks (the same dude that was working on bringing it to the GBA), Cave Story is quickly worming its way to the DS. If you’ve got your own homebrew rap setup and working, RavenWorks invites you to pop in and give his NPC demo a try.
I don’t know about you guys, but I think that the guys that take the time to port my favorite games to handheld systems (I’m looking at you, FoxySofts) should be given Purple Hearts or the Congressional Medal of Honor. Or an Emmy or something. Hell, I don’t even know what any of those are, but I assume that they’re made out of chocolate.

Having never actually played Cave Story (is there even a Linux version? Flash maybe?) I look forward to playing it for the first time on the DS.

ZOMG! He’s done re-writing his graphics routines to use the 3-D engine…Ravenworks said that once this was done, the rest would come much easier (I guess one of the main things hampering progress was getting all the effects to work on the DS’s 2-D graphics core), so here’s hoping.

Purple Hearts are given to soldier who are injured while on duty. I don’t think they deserves one of those.
The Congressional Medal of Honor, though, is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an American soldier, for great acts of heroism and going “above and beyond the call of duty”. I think they more likely deserve one of those.
An Emmy is an award for television. They aren’t given out for videogames, as far as I know.

We should make a video game themed ‘Emmy’ award. We could call it the Lemmy, it could be like a weird gold statue of the ‘Koopa Kid’ of the same name.
