I regret to admit that I still have not tried last year’s Madden ‘07 for Wii. It was one of those ‘gonna buy it, gonna buy it…might buy it…sigh, wait for next year’ things. Fortunately, ‘08 is already scheduled to hit in two months’ time, and it looks like EA has really gone the extra mile to improve on the original in every way.
In addition to new screens (which show some major graphical improvement over last year’s outing), IGN is featuring a revealing interview with the game’s producer, Damian Zerr. Much is discussed, including Mii integration, online play, and my personal favorite (pictured above), the ability to draw onscreen plays with the Wiimote. I just hope it makes that squeaky marker sound like in Rayman

I’m not sure if maybe its just worded wrong… but I got the distinct impression that you could use the “telestrator” to diss your friends after making a big play. And also there was a time limit to how much trash you could talk before it cut back to the action. It wasn’t so much a tool for drawing up a play. Maybe I’m wrong…

Geez I wish we would get some sort of explanation of how the online features work from nintendo themselves, this just keeps on getting more confusing.

I think I’m one of those “I’m NEVER EVER buying a sport game” type of gamer.
That’s one of the reasons why I think Wii Sport is my fav and most played wii game now lol.

Madden ‘07 was really fun. The only thing I hated (and this was probably due to me not checking options) was that your opponent could view what plays you were selecting. You selected them with the Wiimote pointer instead of a hidden button push. Again…I probably missed something in options. I hope they expand on defensive controls. The offense had a boatload of quick and easy commands. Defense was a mixed bag…it worked, but motion controls were in favor of the person with the ball. I have to say that running was fantastic.
I heard there was a way to initiate some endzone dances with certain wiimote movements, but never got them to work…maybe it was a dead rumor.
Anyway, if they keep what ‘07 was and improve upon it, I’ll buy it. Great fun.

I haven’t bought a Madden game since the Snes/Genesis days. I will buy this one.

Hmmmm, still looks like @#$% graphically, they don’t even bother working on the graphics!!! common the Wii can do much much better than that.

DCSIMIAN, there was a way to hide which play you chose in Madden ‘07. You just had to press B to select the play you really wanted but then you could continue browsing and select a fake play by pressing A.

I suppose it’s just me, but unless the sports game has Koopa Shells, explosions, bends the rule or some other worldly aspect or more arcade like, I see no reason to play the game (the exceptions being Wii Sports, Fight Night, 1080 and the first Tony Hawk series).
Partly, that’s because I’m an advocate of “Geez. I could go outside and play this in real life”, and part of it is simply because (in my opinion, especially with most EA’s sports series) is that it’s just the same game. I suppose if I were a bigger sports fan, I would see a reason to buy every version for updated stats, and stadiums, and all that. But I’m not. So I don’t. So otherwise (to me) it is literally buying the same game every year.
But I can’y deny Madden’s prestige. So, my general opinion stays as with many things I don’t agree with. I don’t like it, but those who do are certainly entitled to.
