Reggie’s speech at the Nintendo Media Summit was supposed to be embargoed until Friday. The internet did not agree, and Reggie’s first official defeat has been at the hands of a series of tubes. You can read the entire transcript of the speech over at IGN, but there are some choice tidbits you might want to see first.

For one, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree is going to be online in a major way. We’re talking eight-player simultaneous online brain competitions. How Nintendo’s network can interface with eight brains at a time is beyond me, but thus is the Nintendo magic.

That’s pretty funky fresh if I do say so myself. Big Brain Academy was a blast in multiplayer, and I can’t wait to pummel you with my superior intellect. It’s also interesting to note that Big Brain Academy is set for release on June 11th, a full two weeks before the supposed first WiFi enabled titled to hit the US, Pokemon Battle Revolution.

Upon further commenting (thanks Kenny!), turns out I read too much into Reggie’s statement. No “direct” online play, but you will be able to play with 7 other people (in your living room I assume) AND upload your scores via WiiConnect24. Sorry about the stupidity.

Reggie also confirmed that on top of the already confirmed MP3 action we’re getting this summer, we’ll be getting Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros: Brawl and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass before the years end. It’s shaping up to be one helluva summer AND year for Nintendo fans everywhere. Get excited kiddos!
