Alright, another PC-related post in less than a week. Sorry about that, but I’ve been playing Dungeon Runners like crazy lately, and I needed to share my experience with you guys.
I’ve been in the closed beta of this game for a couple of months now, and I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t really into it. But recently I gave it another chance, only this time I decided to play it with a friend.
What’s Dungeon Runners you ask? Think Diablo 2 meets Dungeon Siege and you’ll get the concept. It’s a hack ‘n slash RPG that sends you on tons of quest inside this huge dungeon that’s plenty of levels deep and has lots of different areas/themes. Each of these areas is made up of seven levels, most with side levels as well. Click here to check out a map of the latest version of the game.
Features and more after the break.

Features
* Free to download and play
* Three character classes: Fighter, Mage, and Ranger. Each can learn powerful magic and deadly weapon skills
* Progress in power as you gain levels and acquire new treasures
* Some dungeons can be completed quickly, rewarding those who can only invest fifteen minutes a play session, while greater dungeons provide a deep, rich, questing experience for those who want to go on longer runs or multi-part quests
* Easy to control with either ‘WASD’ or point and click combat and movement
* Adventure alone or join with online friends to form your own band of heroes
* Undertake quests to rid the world of unspeakable horrors and legions of enemies
* Gather in the public area of Townston, and then quickly hop into a new adventure in your very own instanced dungeon
* Become a legend. Bask in the limelight as your powers, equipment, and influence grow with each successful quest and every fallen foe
* Randomly generated dungeons may contain any number of special rooms, different monster encounters and more! Each dungeon is always fresh, providing limitless re-playability
* Game content will continually grow: new maps, monsters, powers, and much, much more
* Literally thousands of magic weapons, items, and armor to discover
So this game is free? In a way, yes. You can play throughout the entire game without paying a dime. But if you’re not paying, you’ll miss your chance at some better equipment for your level. This game has different qualities of equipment.
- Normal (Grey) – Displayed as a white item name
- Superior (Green) – Better than a normal item and is displayed as a green item name
- Magic (Blue) – Better than a superior item and is displayed as a blue item name
- Rare (Yellow) – Better than a magic item and is displayed as an orange item name
- Unique (Purple) – Better than a rare item and is displayed as a yellow item name
- Mythic (Rainbow) – Way better than a unique item and is displayed as a rainbow-colored item name
Being a free member gives access to blue items and lower, while paying members get access to the higher quality items with better stats.
At first my friends and I thought of staying free members and playing through the entire game (can’t refuse a free game, eh?). Once you start seeing those yellow and higher quality items drop, though, it’s enough to change your mind. But no-one is forcing you to become a member, the items will
Being a member also gives you access to a bank to store your items, and stackable potions instead of a single potion per slot.
Also on a final note, this game is a lot more enjoyable while playing with others, although playing alone is fun, too. To anyone who decides to play, my in-game name is “CoffeeMan” and I’m there almost every night
Here’s a look at what’s coming in the next couple of months for Dungeon Runners:
June
- In-game advertising on load screens for free players.
- Voice chat support.
July
- PvP support.
- Multiple characters per account.

I’m busy playing Diablo II right now and it’s still tons of fun. But when I get bored with that (probably not for several more months) I will check out Dungeon Runners. Looks cool.

sublime - 05.24.07 5:01 pm
I’m confused by your comment… there’s no ads if you pay for it.
Personally, I’m still waiting for my confirmation e-mail to even play.

Tony - Did you subscribe before or after my post?
Also, there’s no ads in the game, and when there will be some, I imagine it’s gonna be on the loading screens between levels.
