Nintendo News: Nintendo’s Summer Lineup Satisfies Core and New Gamers

Can’t wait for the smash bros site to go up. OHHH YEAAHH.
DarkTide - 05.21.07 11:05 am
For me, it’s all about Space Station Tycoon, Battalion Wars, and Pro Bowling!!!
…oh yeah, Metroid, too.
Drew Kora - 05.21.07 11:12 am
all about MP3 right here
TakaM - 05.21.07 11:33 am
SMASH BROS SITE SCREWED US ALL OVER.
gojiguy - 05.21.07 11:36 am
Huh? It hasn’t opened yet. And oh yeah, MP3 is one of my most anticipated titles. I’d like to know about Atlus’ Luminous Arc, as well. Sounds like yet another cool little RPG that would never have been released here if Atlus hadn’t picked it up (I guess it’s an RPG/Strategy game hybrid, the description on IGN gave me something of an Ogre Battle vibe).
9th Sage - 05.21.07 11:58 am
Does anyone know if they are going to bring NCAA Football to the Wii? I know these games are hugely popular here, but it is a guilty pleasure. And Madden is okay, but I am more into college ball than pro.
Sean - 05.21.07 12:16 pm
And where’s Super Mario Galaxy?, and well… Smash Bros. Hope they both get release dates soon =P
emmiranda - 05.21.07 12:17 pm
There needs to be SSBB on that list! Also, I think we need a DS version of Smash. We’ve needed a portable Smash game for a while and they have the perfect chance on the DS, so why haven’t they done it?
Lance - 05.21.07 12:20 pm
Maybe they should celebrate the release of MP3 with an mp3 channel for the Wii! Or maybe just get MP3 to me faster, that would be good too.
006 - 05.21.07 12:33 pm
@Lance
DS Smash Bros sounds awesome.
Disappointed to see no Super Mario Galaxy, but some good games on the list nonetheless.
Sketch - 05.21.07 1:47 pm
Still plenty of time after the Summer to release SSBB and Galaxy. Besides, those will probably be their biggest holiday hits. Market-wise that’d be the best time to release them.
JonDarkwood - 05.21.07 2:12 pm
Nintendo. I can forgive SM Galaxy and Brawl. BUT WHEN TEH BLOODY HELL IS FIRE EMBLEM COMING OUT!
yanipheonu - 05.21.07 2:56 pm
Picross DS is in the same problem as Mario’s Picross is in a decade ago, Great Gameplay yet Nobody Bought It or Interested in it!
Cyber Fox - 05.21.07 3:04 pm
There sure are a whole bunch of awesome games coming out for Wii and DS in the second half of 2007, and I’m really glad that Nintendo finally revealed the release date of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I was originally thinking that MP3:C would come out in July, then, two months later (September), Super Mario Galaxy would arrive, and finally, in November (also two months later), we’d get Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Metroid Prime 3 coming out a month later should still allow Nintendo to have a well paced Fall. Perhaps SMG will arrive early October and SSBB in mid November. Well, we’ll see what happens; I just hope that all three come out this year. Great news day so far and here’s to tomorrow!
Paul Gale - 05.21.07 3:08 pm
One has to remember that Summer = Good for movies, Bad for games.
Fall/Winter is the true season for loving (or blowing Pikachu up with a Nikita missile - your call).
j - 05.21.07 3:22 pm
Dang, I thought picross ds would never come out in the us so I bought the JPN version.
Tanner - 05.21.07 3:26 pm
OMFG MP3 on August 20th !~@!
mcheddadi - 05.21.07 3:45 pm
Battalion Wars 2 is my pick for the most excited I am title. I cannot wait to see what they do with that well above par franchise this time around.
Sonic - 05.21.07 4:16 pm
I was hoping Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village would get a US release date. Maybe in the fall.
Dusty - 05.21.07 4:24 pm
Sean, don’t be ashamed of your NCAA Football love. It is an excellent game, and in my opinion, a better game than Madden. So i’m basically begging EA to release for Wii….because I will buy it. ON THE DAY IT COMES OUT
DUKobE8 - 05.21.07 4:49 pm
Let’s see…
Seems the DS is gonna be a slow one this summer…though I am interested about Heroes of Mana.
It’s the Wii that has my really excited however.
Namely, Mario Strikers Charged, Space Station Tycoon, Batallion Wars 2 and Boogie (WHAT?! An EA game that sounds good?! UNPOSSIBLE!)
I am dissapointed that One Piece: Unlimited Adventure, which was previously rumored to be launched in the US around August, has nothing confirmed. But that’s me, and I’m a One Piece fan.
In the mean time, I am FUMING at the lack of anything on the Smash Bros. Site. WHY NINTENDO?! WHY ARE YOU SUCH A TEASE?!
Oh…at the risk of sounding stupid…what is this MP3? I imagine it’s an MP3 player for the DS…but just so I know…what is it?
OOF - 05.21.07 5:51 pm
MP3 = Metroid Prime 3 = awesomeness, but I’m infinitely more excited about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, if there’s any one series of games that I play for hours, days and months on end without ever getting board, Smash Bros. is it!
Picross is also looking pretty good, i may consider it.
argh… the wait for the SSBB site is killing me…
Razo - 05.21.07 6:04 pm
Is this the North American line-up? I’ve actually been really interested in Picross DS since I read the review here but importing the game from Japan was way too expansive.
CRIMExTHINK - 05.21.07 6:21 pm
I seriously hope that Fire Emblem does NOT come out over until here, until they have implemented Wii-mote functionality. Because forcing stick control is a serious offense.
Dead_Prophet - 05.21.07 6:23 pm
The Smash Bros. site is up…
…to no good yet. Grrrrrr
geekrecon - 05.21.07 6:25 pm
Not a complete list, butmaybe some have been delayed. Still a good list.
I guess the earlier than expected arrival of MP3 means no multiplayer, and Nintendo must have some bigger guns ready for Xmas holiday time.
Sean - 05.21.07 7:29 pm
…Oh yes…makes so much sense now. MP3 = Metroid Prime 3.
…Well, now I do feel like an idiot. And rightfully so.
However, regardless, I have no real interest in MP3, so I think I’ll live with the same for now.
*eagerly watches smashbros.com*
OOF - 05.21.07 7:56 pm
smashbros site being updated at 10pm central time. I think that 11 eastern. Enjoy.
Stelios - 05.21.07 8:40 pm
*thats
Stelios - 05.21.07 8:40 pm
That doesn’t seem like a lot of games (for the Wii) to me. Nintendo needs strong third party support year-round, not just at the holidays.
amanaplan - 05.21.07 10:14 pm
its games like metroid prime: corruption, super mario galaxy and SSBB that make me want to keep my wii.
spire - 05.21.07 11:09 pm
MP3 out aug 20th in NA? Them maybe there is hope for a 2007 PAL release?
mortenfriis - 05.22.07 3:20 am
OMG! Screw MP3 & all the rest! There’s going to be a High School Musical game for the Wii AND the DS! I am sooooooo stoked. My addiction to that franchise is phenominal!
Kurtis - 05.22.07 3:39 am
@Kurtis - That better have been a joke.
Clay Handley - 05.22.07 10:53 am

I agree completely. I would buy NCAA Football on the day it came out. I just cannot get into the pro atmosphere. My brother-in-law play Madden on occasion, but we would both rather be playing NCAA.
Sean - 05.23.07 10:43 am
Mario striker charged is already out in the UK. Seems europe is getting some extra nintendo love at the moment.
