The wait for new Hellboy comics has always been a painful one. Even though Mike Mignola’s art style looks simple, those masterful strokes take a long time. Not only that, but Mignola crafts his stories with such care that we only see issues once in a red moon. Luckily, Mignola realized this and brought in artist Duncan Fegredo to help him. Otherwise, as Mignola said, we would probably never see all the Hellboy stories he wants to tell. For shame!

The first issue of this collaboration, with Mignola as writer and Fegredo as artist, came out last Wednesday and fans have no need to worry. This is classic Hellboy. No one can be Mignola, but Fegredo does a damn good job bring Hellboy and his world to life, paying homage to Mignola and bringing his own artistic sensibilities at the same time.
