It looks like Sadness developer Nibris has a real reason to be sad. Their publishing partner and programming team, Frontline Studios, seems to have dropped the title and its developer like a sack of zombie heads. Although Nibris itself has not confirmed or commented yet, representatives from Frontline had this to say:
I can confirm that FRONTLINE is no longer interested in developing Sadness game based on Nibris’ concept, and also Nibris is not authorized to claim anything on behalf of FRONTLINE.
Honestly, I can’t say that I find this surprising. Nibris has yet to show anything except concept art and some spooky music. I’ve had some trouble even taking Nibris seriously. They seems to be a small group of people with some cool ideas, but they don’t even do their own programming or art design work.
Even though Nibris is still partnered with graphics studio Digital Amigos, I wouldn’t count on seeing Sadness anytime soon.

There was some video of the game floating around a while back. Whether or not it was actually real, I have no idea.

That original email still rubs me the wrong way. The guy just seems like an idiot, and I can’t believe this story. I’m not a raving fanboy about it, either. It just seems way too unofficial to me. I’m amazed the company even responded, and until they give the real story without getting an email from an idiot, I’m not believing this.

What’s wrong with the email? It’s curt and simple, to the point. There’s no misinterpreting this statement.

always has been vaporware, always will be.

Well, this sucks.
The video and idea seemed like a cool idea.

Yeah this is BS. Move it along people there’s nothing to see here.

Such a shame I was really looking forward to this Gothic style game. But after so long for not releasing any video I did start believing it was a fake or wasn’t going anywhere fast. But the apparent video’s floating around were proved to be from a PC game for the PC. Nintendo needs to make a Hotel Dusk style game for the Wii.

But, somebody’s still gonna make the game right?… Right?

Give us creepy victorian lovecraft inspired horror please. I devoured Eternal Darkness and I’m still bloody hungry.

That’s a shame. The game was so far along.

NOOOOOO!

So far along? Did I miss something? There was never a single screen shot or gameplay video as far as I know.
