It looks like Sadness developer Nibris has a real reason to be sad. Their publishing partner and programming team, Frontline Studios, seems to have dropped the title and its developer like a sack of zombie heads. Although Nibris itself has not confirmed or commented yet, representatives from Frontline had this to say:

I can confirm that FRONTLINE is no longer interested in developing Sadness game based on Nibris’ concept, and also Nibris is not authorized to claim anything on behalf of FRONTLINE.

Honestly, I can’t say that I find this surprising. Nibris has yet to show anything except concept art and some spooky music. I’ve had some trouble even taking Nibris seriously. They seems to be a small group of people with some cool ideas, but they don’t even do their own programming or art design work.

Even though Nibris is still partnered with graphics studio Digital Amigos, I wouldn’t count on seeing Sadness anytime soon.
