It’s 4:00am here. I was just about to head for bed but foolishly I decided to hop on the net one last time before sleeping. As I mentioned before, I have a strange obsession with the newly announced Wii game, Opoona and have decided to follow it closely. I just discovered that there is a trailer up on KOEI’s Opoona teaser site and it looks great! Each time I find out new information about this game, the more I want it. So everyone please take a look at this trailer. Maybe if enough of you become as excited about this game as me, KOEI will announce an English release.

I like chicken!
Now it’s a first comment!

HOLY SCHNIKES!!! That looks incredible! What a beautiful style and incredible visuals. This game pretty much sums up everything I love about video games.
I definitely hope they bring this to the states. Beautiful.
Drew Kora - 03.16.07 4:09 pm
Anyone else reminded of LEGO toys?
Let’s hope Opoona will match the visual creativity by adding something different to the typical rpg battle system
Stuffed - 03.16.07 4:23 pm
Yawn. Yet another JRPG. Wake me up when it’s revolutionary.
Blee Blee Bloo Bloo - 03.16.07 4:28 pm
@ Stuffed - It reminded me of Lego Star Wars during the spacey parts.
This game looks way better than I anticipated. The scenery looks really smooth and, although the characters seem to stick out a bit oddly, I think it works for the game. Let’s hope it sees an NA release soon!

The visual style works, I think. And the music seems good with Hitoshi Sakimoto doing the soundtrack.
David - 03.16.07 4:40 pm
I’d like to know what interesting gamplay elements it has.
Shinn - 03.16.07 4:50 pm
Excitement level increased. Now added to my “must-have” Wii game list.
Jaycube64 - 03.16.07 4:55 pm
Am I the only one that snickers a little at the title?
Keeko_ca - 03.16.07 5:14 pm
No, you aren’t
Wow, this game surprised me. I just thought that it was just some weird game Vinnk was flipping out about but it seems that this game looks to be awesome. Nice find.
Arcanis - 03.16.07 5:37 pm
Keeko can’t wait to get some Opoona on his Wii. (sorry, that had to be said.)

Re: LEGO: The blue dude definitely looks like a LEGO man to me.
I don’t find myself getting too excited about this game. It looks like it will be a fairly standard RPG-style thing, with lots of walking and talking. The battles looked pretty normal to me, as the character didn’t dodge, but maybe attacking is interesting. And there seems to be a variety of enemies, so maybe there is good battle gameplay variety. Guess the trailer doesn’t reveal enough! But so far, drool has yet to well up inside my mouth. As a side note I find the graphics style interesting and pretty, and the sounds and music quite pleasing!

OMg, this game looks incredible.
Vinnk, infiltrate KOEI HQ and make this come here
Edgar - 03.16.07 6:18 pm
*imagines how crappy everyone would say it is if it was for the PS3*
hyda_albion - 03.16.07 8:19 pm
HEY! VINNK! You should mention how Arte Piazza were the same guys who localized Dragon Warrior VII for the PS1. That would get some people excited.
Taylor - 03.16.07 8:57 pm
Wait. It might’ve been that they were the guys who ported DQIV to the PS1 (lamentably, only in Japan).
Taylor - 03.16.07 9:00 pm
Wait, it was both. Also, they put DQ3 on the Super Famicom.
Taylor - 03.16.07 9:01 pm
Yeah, it reminds me of Lego and yet somehow creepier looking, at least the main character is. I do want an RPG for the Wii, but this doesn’t look like to be the one that’ll do it for me.
“*imagines how crappy everyone would say it is if it was for the PS3*”
Actually, I’m saying it LOOKS “crappy” on the Wii NOW. In fact, I’d bet if it was on the PS3 or 360 instead, I’d doubt they’d use this kind of art style and I’m shaking my fist at that notion. I want something that looks like FFX, Trusty Bell, Rogue Galaxy, or even Tales of Symphonia. Actually I wouldn’t mind something that looks like FFCC either, but with Dewy’s Adventure, Treasure Island Z, Opoona, Elebits, Monkey Ball, and the like, I’m getting the suspicion that many third-parties are still going for “kiddy” effect on the Wii. I’m not saying Dewy or Treasure Island Z hasn’t caught my interest, but I want something more in the Trusty Bell or even Blue Dragon art style. Something from Level 5, Mystwalker, Square-Enix, Namco, or even Bioware and what their RPG games look like as a whole. I’m sorry, but Opoona, as far as art style goes, isn’t interesting me and that’s pretty much stage one when I weed out games I’m interested in (kinda like people and relationships, they look at the outside beauty then check out the personality).
Questworld - 03.16.07 9:47 pm
On second thought, Katamari did make it on the PS2 and I don’t like that art style either. Still, I say chances are we’ll get more games that look more in the realm of Opoona than Trusty Bell.
Questworld - 03.16.07 9:53 pm
If you want my opinion, don’t flame. Sorry, game looks totally boring…but we’ve yet to uncover more about it. also, I hate the fact that it’s japanese characters…these stupid american writers have nothing but crappy disney games and the like. But whatever…it’s not like I’ll get a wii anytime soon. Hope you folks have a good time.
Travis - 03.16.07 10:17 pm
It looks nice, particularly the environments, but how much of that is interactable? The gameplay looks pretty generic, and it seems like only the orange ball is animated in the fights. That’s a bit of a cop-out.
amanaplan - 03.16.07 10:38 pm
Seems too simple. It didn’t take the Wii to its highest abilities.
Crimson Warrior - 03.16.07 10:56 pm
“It didn’t take the Wii to its highest abilities.”
Right. Because this game was released some time ago and we all got a chance to play it, ya?
Whitemage - 03.17.07 12:05 am
Looks like an instant buy to me. I hope they are localizing as we speak.
realstar - 03.17.07 3:43 am
Am I the only one that the trailer hasn’t been working for? It always stops working right after the little guy gets out of bed and starts to do a backflip
silkyloveq - 03.17.07 3:48 am
This looks like a pretty boring game and am willing to bet it gets low reviews all round. its just another below par RPG
tic - 03.17.07 7:36 am
He looks like a Japanese bald Cartman…!
Blixt - 03.17.07 7:57 am
kind of makes me thing “Lego Star Ocean” by which i mean “really cool”
jodyanthony - 03.17.07 8:46 am
This looks much more interesting than the original reveal. Can someone translate some of the japanese in the trailer?
used cisco - 03.17.07 9:22 am
Looks far too childish for me to get into. Sorry, but this really looks like a kid’s game.
General Katase - 03.17.07 1:51 pm
I have to admit I’m intrigued by the bizarre enemy design even if the characters themselves are a bit off-putting. I really like the look of the environments in the game, everything looks very lush and vibrant. When I saw that the game looked like your standard rpg battle fare my hopes dropped a little but I still can’t wait to find out a bit more about this weird title.
Arcturian - 03.17.07 8:06 pm
General Katase - Get with the new generation man, looks don’t matter.
