Activision CEO Mike Griffith let an interesting tidbit slip during a conference call yesterday.
The key difference in our strategy versus the prior cycle, is that in addition to full support on Sony and Microsoft platforms, we will aggressively target the Nintendo platforms consistent with our multi-platform strategy and Nintendo’s expected growth. In fiscal 2008, we will double our offerings on the DS and the Wii, including Spider-Man, Shrek, Transformers, and Guitar Hero.
Now, we can probably assume that he meant the Wii there; Guitar Hero just wouldn’t work on the DS. We’re going to pretend that a Game Boy version of DDR doesn’t exist for a moment. No real details have been revealed yet, but we’re going to watch this story like the rock-obsessed children of the eighties that we are. That is to say, we’ll report any details that emerge on this story. I, personally, can’t wait to see the controller they unveil.
