This Just In…NEWS!

The forthcoming release of the Wii News Channel is upon us, and will be available for download this weekend! Since the console’s launch there has been quite a bit of speculation surrounding the News Channel, and it’s ever present placeholder on the Wii’s main menu. Do we really need another way to look at headlines? Isn’t this already available on the internet and TV? What does this have to do with Nintendo?

Our favorite, most trustworthy vice president of marketing for Nintendo of America, Perrin Kaplan, says…

“The beauty of it is it zooms in and out of areas of the world,” she said. “So if you really want to focus on regional news or national news versus international, you just blow up the map of the U.S.”

Cute. The Wii News Channel will host popular news stories and photographs provided by The Associated Press’s vast presence around the globe. I’m more excited about playing with the interface than being able to view headlines on my console. Can Nintendo really make the news…fun?
