It seems the officials at Nintendo of Europe (which, to my understanding, were lost on a boat sometime in the early 90s) are starting to triumphantly proclaim that the DS and the Wii’ve accounted for nearly 50% of all game hardware sales in December. The Wii and the DS, both of which are priced a bit differently in the US, sold about 200,000 units and 500,000 units respectively in the time-frame of December 8th to December 31st.

But, get this – that’s in the UK alone.

With 1.7 million DSes and 700k Wiis across the rest of Europe in December, I’d say that Europe is just about pushing its way back onto Nintendo Co.’s compass.

Also, be aware that these rapid sales are hot on the heels of electricity being introduced to Europe only three months ago (Just kidding, Europe. Don’t be sore like that, you know I love your mini-pancakes).
