By now you have all seen the vids of people using their Wiimote on Bluetooth enabled PCs. Many people questioned it functionality as little more than a cool way to press buttons. However, now that people are figuring out how to also use the IR pointer functionality of the remote, it has become much more than just a simple hack.
While the algorithm is apparently still buggy and slow, it looks like we could eventually be playing FPS’s on our PCs using the Wiimote. Or controlling iTunes or any other number of applications. I can just see it now, I’ll pause my game on the Wii, turn around, change the track in iTunes and then turn back around and keep playing, all without leaving my seat. Ain’t technology grand?
