Just in case you haven’t gotten enough Zelda this week, Gametrailers.com has your back with the fourth segment of its excellent Zelda retrospective. This time they talk about the 2 Game Boy Color games (Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons) as well as the GBA port of A Link to the Past and Four Swords Adventures. I have a confession to make. I have not played any of these games. I always meant to buy them, but I never got around to it. Are these games still worth it today?

Hell yes they are worth it! It’s Zelda.
The Oracle games were better than TMC, imo.
If you’ve played ALTTP on the SNES, you aren’t missing out on much, save a new dungeon and new sword technique (albiet a few smaller edits/changes). I enjoyed playing FS with a few friends, though its sequel is much better.
FSA is a must; I had always wanted a more action-oriented Zelda game. And Shadow Battle with friends is some of the best fun you’ll ever have in a multiplayer video game.
Rasengan_Master - 11.04.06 1:00 pm
uhhhhh YES
they freakin own..!

Minish Cap was actually the very first Zelda game I ever beat. (I’m stuck on the last dungeons for both the first and third games). Sure the duckhat is annoying sometimes but not as much as Navi. The dungeon puzzles are pretty logical too. Four Swords is definitely awesome (and gorgeous). Prepare for much smack talk between friends.
Oooo~! The next one is about my favourite, Wind Waker. Can’t wait!

Definitly go for the Oracle games, they’re excellent Zelda titles.
I prefer the oracle titles over Minish Cap for terms of handheld Zelda, the Oracle games just seem so… much better to me.
But I’m sure when Phantom Hourglass comes out, that’ll be my favourite handheld Zelda (I dont count LTTP/FS because LTTP is my favourite console Zelda)
SereneCrimson - 11.04.06 1:30 pm
Oracle of Seasons is amongst the best Zelda titles, with spectacular dungeons/puzzles and excellent items. Oracle of Ages, well, not quite as much. Minish Cap is alright, but not something to go out of your way to pick up.
Four Swords Adventures is Zelda-lite, stripped of exploration and multi-room puzzles, but awesome in a way that “real” Zelda games can never be. It’s a rush all the way through.
Of course, all this is coming from a guy who thinks OoT and MM are mediocre (LttP and LA are where its at).

This Legend of Zelda Retrospective contiues to bring back great memories with Part 4. I thought that Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons for Game Boy Color were very solid titles. The same with Four Swords Adventures for GameCube; it too was a lot of fun, especially when playing with friends. I wonder if after Part 5 is done, will GameTrailers.com wait a bit until they completely finish Twilight Princess a few times and then release a new video? I would like to see that. Go Nintendo!

I think hte next part will be out soon and cover WInd Waker and Minish Cap.
Vinnk - 11.04.06 2:03 pm
I thought Minish Cap was excellent.
Grant - 11.04.06 2:49 pm
I can’t wait for part 5. This was good, but part 5 should be better since Wind Waker is the only Zelda game I’ve ever played through completely.
Crimson Warrior - 11.04.06 3:01 pm
A Link to the Past will be worth playing in 20 years.
Freakin love that game.

Yes, the oracle games are worth playing. You really have to be devoted to get through both of them. But don’t forget a few things about the gbc zeldas. You need either a gbc or gba sp to play them. They can not be played on a ds. And if you want to get the “true” ending with twinrova you have to have either 2 gameboy colors or 2 gba sps. Go to the snake at the ring shop to enter the passwords. Good Luck!

^^^You don’t need two GBCs as I remember it…you can just write down the code and switch your games, then input the code.

The Oracle games were good, but i much prefer Seasons to Ages.
Nothing beats Link’s Awakening, though
Rynen10K - 11.04.06 5:42 pm
It’s me again fellow gamers! I think the oracle games were awesome!

The oracle games are great, I’ve been m,aking my way through them on a emu for dreamcast lately. They’ve held up suprisingly well.
peshue - 11.04.06 6:30 pm
i personally havent played through any of these games myself, but from now until the wii release i’m going to be playing through link to the past and ocarina of time, to catch up on the experiences ive missed

:)
cant wait till windwaker
TakaM - 11.04.06 7:38 pm
so the next one will do the WW and the MC and then do you think they’ll follow up with a TP one?
AJ - 11.04.06 9:00 pm
Four Swords Adventures is really underrated. It’s a really great game, and a giant homage to ALttP. Heaps of fun, even with one person, and any Zelda fan should really own it. The Oracles are also pretty solid, some of the best games on the GBC.
Impossible - 11.04.06 10:05 pm
Rynen10K is 10000% right
The Oracles are in the best games I’ve ever played, but Link’s awakening is still better
Nicol@s - 11.04.06 10:43 pm
Am I the only one who preferred Oracle of Ages to Seasons?
Both were fantastic though.
smitty - 11.04.06 11:46 pm
I just picked up Four Swords Adventures a couple of weeks ago since it’s now a player’s choice title, and i’m having fun with it.
bwntcake - 11.05.06 3:15 am
The oracle games are (In my opinion) the best 2D Zelda games around.
elfman13 - 11.05.06 5:30 am
Nothing will beat Link’s Awakening in my mind for handheld Zelda fun, but the Oracle titles were quite good.
I never did play Minish Cap, perhaps someday on a bundle disc in the far far future.
Four Swords should be brought to VC or Wii, with online play.
What joy would that be?
Kenofthedead - 11.05.06 11:01 am
I’m really sad I missed out on the Oracle games as well as the Minish Cap.
I’ve played:
tLoZ (incomplete)
Z2 (incomplete)
LA (complete)
aLttP (incomplete)
OoT (complete)
WW (incomplete)
I really want to finish WW and LA, and try to get the other games I missed. I won’t be getting a Wii anytime soon…
Freako Suave - 11.05.06 3:11 pm
wow, i’m surprised by how many people liked minish cap. i thought it was awful.
i did love the oracles games, however. really fun doing the codes and links and whatnot. even made it possible for people using roms to trade items!
chris - 11.06.06 1:29 am
Link’s Awakening is definitely worth it.
the Oracle ones were ok, but there’s something about them that’s so, Capcom-ey.
same goes for Minish Cap, and i didn’t really like the concept of shrinking down (as opposed to dark/light world in other Zeldas)
