One of the games I am most looking forward to this Wiinter is Red Steel. I was initially pumped about this game, but after the reports at E3 my hopes were dashed of playing Red Steel the way I had envisioned it. But with all the anouncements and the advancements seen since E3, Ubisoft has managed to rekindle my interest in the game. Well, now I am drooling over the game. But the game would be so much more fun if I could only get my friends to be interested in it as well. Well Ubisoft has recently released this new site that lets you leave a message promoting the game on your friend’s phones. Yeah, it’s kinda like the Snakes on a Plane one with Samuel L. Jackson. Only this time the sensei character from the game is promoting Red Steel. Imagine all the havoc us web geeks could cause with this new feature!
It is amazing what Ubisoft has done to promote Red Steel. I would argue, that Ubisoft has managed to promote Red Steel to a level that rivals the publicity of Twilight Princess. Because Nintendo has been historically successful in making first-party games, whenever I thought of the Wii, I would only imagine playing first-party games like Zelda and Metroid. Ubisoft, over the past year has really changed many people’s thoughts of what the Wii could be. Now they are releasing to us a tool so that we can join in their crusade!
Well enough babbling, rebels. Here’s the link to the site. Now just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do…

They’ve also set up a Red Steel community page — you know, the usual earn points, buy stuff thing. I’m not going to lie, I’m advertising it so I can get extra points >_>
I will say, though, that it’s pretty cool. I’ve been on it for a while now.
Help me out and join a nice community at the same time? Please? haha.

Even more on-topic: yeah, I think it’s pretty awesome how they’re marketing this. Ubisoft is definitely some gaming demigod — it doesn’t have to be the first-party games that get played all the time.

I wouldn’t mind a Raving Rabbids community site. Red Steel is one of those games I think I’d have to demo before buying it….

I stopped when it prompted me to give my phone number.
Invalid my ass.

Holy crap. That’s the best advertising site I’ve ever seen.

“Your preposterous pimp”…”tell your mother to fire up da LOSER mobile and get you, and your flabby buttocks to the store”…”hurry up, or you’ll be late for your ballet class”.
Brilliant.

i cant be excited about the game until they fix the aiming the way you turn looks absolutely stupid.

I just watched that video they have on EurogamerTV - uh.
Those “players” are horrible, nothing less.
Not to mention 70% of the “trailer” is “players”, not game - a very bad sign.

Awesome.
And we saw enough of the game Zerotohero, I think they just want to show you how you can play it with your friends.

That’s really funny, too bad I can’t send any right now…

Same here, I think they need to fix the turning motion. It feels like I am a robot in this game - its just plain stupid.
This sort of gun-trotting and sword slashing game should be given to Capcom (think Devil may cry). Capcom develop their games with style and flair, not just gfx - every motion and movement is executed with attention down to the last detail.

I re-pre-reserved Red Steel today, mostly after Chris Kohler’s article.

I cancelled my Red Steel preorder on PRINCIPLE after watching that god awful multiplayer trailer. I am not funding such idiocy.
Plus, this game looks terrible.
