Hello Player 1

You think taking on an alien force like Red Falcon was easy? Fighting off an entire army while dodging a downpour of bullets doesn’t sound nerve-wracking? Bridges suddenly exploding under you for no damn reason sounds manageable? Well, consider yourself a hero. The Contra marines had to deal with those stressful situations everytime you loaded their game, and even they needed a little help sometimes to deal with the anxiety:

I have no idea why Sgt. Bill and Cpl. Lance decided that it was essential to show up at the battlefield sans shirts, but that’s just how those two rolled. NGJ’s Ronn LeFeuvre decided to keep that eccentricity of theirs in mind when he recreated a scene from Contra’s first level with Lego bricks, as pictured above. The model was created for a feature in EGM’s latest issue (Gears of War cover), along with similar dioramas for Mortal Kombat and Shadow of the Colossus.
You can check out Ronn’s Brick Flick site for more Lego interpretations of NES games like Metal Gear, Duck Hunt, Excite Bike, and Bionic Commando. He also has a PDF guide that details how he put together the Lego Castlevania screenshot from the EGM article.
