This other powet.tv video is just plain cool. It tells about a hidden song found in many old and new Nintendo games. Possibly any games with music composed by Kazumi Totaka. This video shows just some of the titles you can find the 19-note song in and urges you to search for it in others. I think we should aid them in this noble quest.
On a side note, I was actually with TheOrange when he bought the Zelda game used in this video. The store, Famicom Dojo, is owned by another of our 4cr readers, Hiro.

A plug for WHAT, exactly?
SeanOrange - 10.16.06 7:08 am
Now, Sean. Don’t sink to the level of that mean little cynic.
Phil Bond - 10.16.06 7:23 am
wow. This is why I love Nintendo.
Sideath - 10.16.06 8:00 am
Woah, and this hasn’t been found for how long? That’s a pretty well hidden easter egg.
Captain_404 - 10.16.06 9:02 am
Scary thing, I just played K.K. Song in Animal Crossing last Saturday!
Miquel Fire - 10.16.06 9:03 am
Saw that some time ago… pretty neat.
Be sure to check out Nintendo Database’s coverage on the song:

The site was also the main source for this video, if I’m not mistaken.

I think The Mushroom Kingdom did something on this a long time ago, too…
I dunno if they still have it or not, though :\

Off topic, but someone might care:
Today in Canada, preorders took place for the Wii and the PS3 at the same time at EB Games [we don’t have Gamestop]. There were 15 Wiis available and about 8 PS3. Employees were not allowed to preorder — they get a seperate shipment, or something. I was first in line for the Wii at 5am, but there were about 9 PS3 people in front. In the end, there were about 15 waiting for PS3 and 35 for Wii. You had to choose between the two, you can only preorder one.

So what if it’s a plug?

I am almost positive that I’ve heard Luigi whistling that tune while playing Luigi’s Mansion. I don’t remember if I did something to make him do it, but I’m really confident that he has in the past.

A while ago, I was really surprised when I requested K.K. Song and it was the same song that was on Mario Paint when you clicked on the O. I never thought that it might be in other games, though. That’s pretty cool.
Lemond - 10.16.06 1:32 pm
This is interesting.
Sneak - 10.16.06 2:28 pm
Didn’t 4cr have an article on this about a year ago?
Zork - 10.16.06 2:41 pm
Yeah, and we linked to the Nintendo Database article, but we didnt have any videos to show. Now we do.

I remember the song from the Mario Paint days, and I believe I’ve left the game over screen for Mario Land 2 long enough to hear it, but this going to be a fun search through all my games tonight!
This sort of reminds me of the “Wilhelm” scream that’s seen in many movies. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_scream) It’s been used for about 50 years as the same soundbite in so many movies, including Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Spaceballs, Batman, Aladdin. Lately TV shows and video games have used it as well.
Ahhhhh!
geekRECON - 10.16.06 5:19 pm
@Keitaro
Yes, I think I remember hearing him whistle it also.
Dann - 10.16.06 8:50 pm
Isnt there a music room in Luigi’s Mansion, where you can make the haunted instruments play a tune like that? Been a long time, and my Cube died, so I cant check it.
Fank - 10.16.06 9:05 pm
*rushes to Pikmin 2 to find the tune thinking that it’s something he’s heard before a thousand times*
