4cr Review – Sumo Omni Bean Bag Chair

The guys at SUMO approached us a few days ago, and asked if we’d give one of their super-sized Omni bean bag chairs a spin. Agreed I did.

Bean bag chairs have been around for quite a while now, but more often than not, they always end up turning into an explosion of beans all over the place. SUMO offers bean bag chairs made of rip-proof ballistic nylon, resistant to wear and stains while still offering comfort. The Omni is filled with thousands of little white foam balls, allowing it to be transformed into many different shapes & positions.

Read past the cut for my impressions and a few pictures.

I was surprised to see how sturdy and well made the pillow chair was upon pulling it out of the box. A box that was so goddamn huge that the FedEx guy had problems fitting the damn thing through the door on delivery. The Omni, as they call it, measures a hefty 5.5 x 4.5 feet while still remaining light enough to carry around. Because of its size, the Omni more or less needs to have its own personal space depending on where you want to put it in the house. It takes up as much space as a standard recliner chair, but it’s so much comfier. ^_^

Like I said above, the Omni gets all of its comfy attributes from thousands and thousands of little foam balls. SUMO offers an additional 3 cubic-foot bag of foam balls if you ever need to fill it up some more. Word of warning – don’t play with the foam balls. If you drop something in the chair, it’s gone. Forever. If someone trips on the bean bag while the foam balls are exposed, they’re all over your house. Play safe and keep it closed and sealed at all times!

The Omni has been in my living room for over a week now, and my friends, roomies, and others are all over it. It has easily become the gaming chair of the house. I often use it myself for some quick DS sessions. Gotta love that chair. :)

The nylon is quite resistant and barely shows any sign of wear and/or usage on it. We even had three 200lbs+ drunkards piled up one on top of the other on the Omni, and it withstood all that weight. Now that’s one tough Sumo if you ask me.

All in all, the Omni bean bag chair gets a big two thumbs up from me. If you’re looking for a lounging chair for your gaming room, this is what you need. Check out this funny video Sumo put up on their site, it might convince you to get one of your own.
