Sinnen, one of our forumites just posted some pictures from his homecoming. But not any kind of homecoming, a video game themed one. Talk about a cool school!
They had four floats:
- The freshmen made a Paper Boy float
- The sophomores made a Donkey Kong float
- The juniors made a Pac-Man float
- The seniors made the best looking float, a Mario themed one.
Pics after the break

Anyone else has a cool gaming story to share?

They did all this because he came home? Where was he?

That’s awesome!

You don’t get out much, homecoming is liek a school event
Quaddw - 09.27.06 11:12 pm
Your homecoming beats the hell out of mine. We never make floats, much less video game ones.
I wanna transfer…

Awesomeee…
At my school we have spirit days where people dress up according to the theme, and one time it was Nintendo day! i just wore a mario mustache…

Is that Clio, as in Clio michigan?
peshue - 09.27.06 11:58 pm
We had a decorated hall last year set up like Mario Bros. That was awesome.
No floats though.

This almost makes me want to go back to high school… nah, college was more fun!
geekrecon - 09.28.06 12:11 am
My school did that theme one year.
Except Freshman chose Toy Story
Sophomores Tarzan
Juniors 007 (Goldeneye)
And Seniors Mario
It was like, “lol wut’s a video game”
To be fair, the first two DID have video game versions… still pissed me off though.

Eh, wow. Wish I could go to such a Nintendo-loving school.

My high school had a huge football program, but I don’t even remember one of our homecomings.

Actually, my school sucks really bad; nobody would want to go there. Video games is all we have because our varsity football team loses every single game; there’s no point in watching them.
Yes, that is Clio Michigan, Peshue.

We don’t have homecomming here. What is it exactly?
jgoreham - 09.28.06 7:41 am
Haha, this reminds me, the other day my math teacher mentioned Paperboy…everyone was like “wha?” and he said “Has no one here ever played the original Nintendo?!” and one girl said “Ohhh…that game where you have to throw the papers at the house!”
My math teacher is pretty awesome.

At my school (I don’t think there are any homecomings in Australia) at the end of year assembly, the year 12’s would perform little antics and such, so I dressed up as Mario (Being the only major Gamer in Year 12) and came in to a very famouse tune, a spin jump and V finger sign of course had to be in it. I’m told it was the best skit of the lot, which unfortunately for the crowd contained a Full Monty scene with some guys who should never be seen without a shirt on, much less the full kit. Those poor little Year 7’s in the front row. The horror, the horror….

The sophomores did a video game theme last year at my school (unfortunately, we’re not all able to pick the same theme per class here). The best thing about their decorations? Duck Hunt.
I’d give pictures if I had them. Perhaps I should go and beg the now-junior class for some.

“Homecoming” must be a Yank football thing then.
My highschool was a hockey and rugby school anyway.
amanaplan - 09.28.06 10:39 am
Yeah, sorry, we don’t have another word for it here besides football. It confuses me sometimes since half the shows I watch are on BBC America, but I’ve never been a fan of either American or rest-of-the-world football.

My question is—how did a bunch of high school freshman know what Paperboy was? That game was 10 years old when they were *born*!
