Famitsu’s latest magazine issue has a batch of images and planned features accompanying Marvelous Interactive’s Harvest Moon announcement for the Wii!
The artwork shows that you will be able to swing your controller with a pick axe-movement to dig around your field so you can plant vegetables. Tilting the controller downward like a watering will even water your plants! Time to harvest your crops (You can check on the crops’ ripeness by comparing their colors)? Cut their souls down with the stroke of a scythe, just like the Grim Reaper.
Graphically, it looks like they went back to the style of “A Wonderful Life”, which isn’t a bad thing, but I honestly like the cartoony look better.
According to intial translations of the the article, you’ll have a lot of other activities to do around your farm that take advantage of the Wii controller: fishing, sowing seeds, and stroking/petting the farm animals. That last one is sure to get a few immature giggles.
Now who’s ready to milk some cows?!

Sweet, now you can actually get tired when you till the land!
Kidding… it actually looks very, very cool.

oh man. Bring it on PETA.

I’d bet money that this game won’t be that great. Natsume recycles and rehashes, fixes a few errors of the last games, and then creates twice as many.

this remember me an episode of the simpsons where bart and lisa are playing virtual farm/Virtual house labor and marge say that “but you dont help me at house” or something like that … O_o

Why would this push someone over the edge to preorder a $600 PS3?
Grant - 08.09.06 12:28 pm
Because they believe that this ONE game means Nintendo has still not grown out of it’s kiddie image. Which in fact seems pretty childish to me. Enjoy what will become a $600 paperweight when BlueRay fails (like every past Sony proprietary format).

hahahaha you could milk a cow.

Oh my crop, this looks fantastic!!! I really hope there’s a whole crap load of festivals in this one. And I want a green house! I hope they don’t use the same land-buying aspect as they did in Magical Melody. I hated that.
Frank - 08.09.06 1:03 pm
It’s not even “kiddy” in appearance.
Looks good, I’m interested. Honestly, I’m glad to see them going back to the slightly more realistic look. Magical Melody just looked really weird, I felt… the main male character’s butt was just bizarre.
Tony - 08.09.06 1:04 pm
I loved the Magical Melody gameplay style. It’s more fun having a rival, because that way, you’ll actually try to plant more plants more often, and get better animals.

Gigantic heads are funny. My wife will want this one fersher.

This looks amazing! I can’t wait to get my hands on this game.
Arcanis - 08.09.06 2:25 pm
What’s kiddy about Harvest moon?
I don’t even think a kid could play or understand the joy and pleasure that Harvest Moon brings

How does JeuxFrance always get screens first??? They’re a bunch of jeuxs!
Heh, that was uncalled for. j/k

Awesome find 4CR. I always enjoy reading anything new regarding Wii, so seeing that you’ve got some Harvest Moon Wii screenshots up is very welcoming. The graphics look simple, but clean. Here’s hoping it’s a good one.

Yeah, I agree with the whole thing about it not really being that kiddy. besides, buying a PS3 isn’t any more ‘manly’ anyway…Ps2 had harvest moon, anyway.
Grupstra - 08.09.06 6:40 pm
Trust me, before long even Final Fantasy IX (and perhaps half of the past FF titles) will be considered “kiddy.”
Questworld - 08.09.06 10:38 pm
Mindless farming that feels like physical work already combined with mindless farm implement movements to make it ACTUAL work?
It’s a stupid idea, but I know for a fact that I won’t be able to stop playing this for weeks.
I haven’t played an HM game since…64, so this will feel rather fresh to me.
Scentless - 08.09.06 11:31 pm
I disliked Harvest Moon.
But that won’t stop me from getting a Wii. There are still several other frickin’ awesome games that are coming out for it.
And the 360 keeps coming up with titles that make me want to buy one. If i only had money. Makes the world go ’round, y’know.

Looks promising, besides an apparent lack of gender equality. You’d think Victor would realize after several fairly successful female HM spin-offs that they have a considerable female following that they should be catering to.
I like the graphics. If they can bring back the feel of the snes and 64 versions, it might be worth buying.

This looks like an awesome game! Though it would make the game better if we could choose the gender of the main character. DOESN’T ANYONE KNOW WHEN THE WII IS COMING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
