Pure, unadulterated joy. That’s what these wonderful pieces of Nintendo-themed art are. They leave me speechless. Enjoy.
Exhibit One: Virtual Console promo pic for GamePaused by Keith Webb
Exhibit Two: Pipe Dreams by Danimation of SketchTavern
Exhibit Three: Gabe Swarr’s poster from Nintendo Power
That last one may be old, but we can’t help it cause it’s awesome and we love Gabe
Thanks to all the readers who sent the GamePaused link our way!

So you got the pink DS lite, huh?

Yeah, I can’t resist the Pink any longer, and I can get it for $150 here…just twenty bucks more than a white one in the US
N Rumas - 07.31.06 10:29 pm

Alex - 07.31.06 10:48 pm

Since I’m a total out-of-the-loop-loser, anyone know where I can score some of these (for purchase if available…love to feed the artists) that I could hang on my wall? *drools*
Emrikol - 07.31.06 11:19 pm
I love that Kirby who’s “swallowed” Simon Belmont.
Jools - 07.31.06 11:46 pm
And Mappy’s there.
Mappy.
Capp'n - 07.31.06 11:52 pm
Emrikol: the only suggestion I have for getting some artwork is to visit the artist’s site and see if they’re selling prints or originals. Otherwise, you’ll have to attend the galleries and purchase them there.

OMG ALEX-KIDD IS IN THE POSTER!!
OMG ORGASM!
Fallout911 - 08.01.06 12:40 am
Wow. On the Virtual Console image, I was somehow able to name both character and game for all but two or three. Yes, I’m proud of that.
Two that have me stumped are the pair of ghost-like characters (upper-left corner) and the cat with the hat and Zapper gun (bottom-middle).
Mappy
Also, a boss from Parodius attacking a boss from Darius at the top, right above the red gargoyle from Gargoyle’s Quest!
noizbot - 08.01.06 2:45 am
That art is great! Did anyone else spot mouse-man from wonderboy III: the Dragon’s Trap? That was probably the best game to ever grace the mastersystem.
I can see all kinds of great lesser known games here, everything from PychoFox to Parodius, but, embarrasingly I can’t spot Mario. Am I looking right past him? Where is he? I got snow bros, dynamite dux, Luigi… Where’s Mario? Maybe that’s their way of telling us “Mario is Missing” will also be available for download. I kid.
Can one of you guys tell me where he is? Thanks.
Touch FuzZy, Get DizZy - 08.01.06 3:57 am
Oh man! If only they came at 1920×1200…
I need some help here - can someone please please please please tell me what the name of the game is with the vampire kid that’s sitting on block, just to the left of donkey kong? I remember playing a dodgy import of it when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it.
Thanks in advance

Gabriel: Kid Dracula.
JDavis - 08.01.06 7:00 am
Not bad. I really liked them, especially the first.
BreakfastPills - 08.01.06 9:06 am
I simply love the first one.
Protoman saving the Princess..classic.
Locke - 08.01.06 10:17 am
Now, here’s the question: will all the games with featured characters be available via virtual console?
Also, I feel like a complete nerd. I can name most of the chars in the first poster, and I know exactly what’s going on in the second poster.
Spencer - 08.01.06 10:20 am
Right, umm…I meant that I know almost exactly what’s going on in the third poster.
Spencer - 08.01.06 10:21 am
Are any of those pix official nintendo art?
oldskoolscrub - 08.01.06 11:17 am
Noizbot: the cat is from the NES game Rockin’ Kats, and the ghost guys are Capcom’s Snow Bros.
Who’s the little brown circle guy with green hair and the antennae?
20XX - 08.01.06 2:53 pm
Cool Nintendo artwork. It’s always nice to see various artists’ own interpretations of Nintendo characters.

Sweet stuff! Long live Gabe Swarr!
I AM 8-BIT - 08.02.06 3:30 am
Bomberman AND Bomb Jack! The dude from SplatterHouse even! the first one takes the cake for awesomeness. But I can’t find sonic. And I think that some of the street fighter characters should be there and so should captain falcon and Fox McCloud. I hate it when ppl completely ignore huge portions of the 16-bit era.
