Chris Hoffman, a Nintendo Power contributor, recently let an interesting comment slip regarding the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
“If you want to talk about something big, how about the news Hideo Kojima, Snake’s creator, is designing Snake’s level in Brawl? Snake’s inclusion means we’re not only getting one of the best characters in gaming, but one of the best developers as well.”
Naturally, we can’t wait to see what Kojima will bring to the Smash Bros. formula. However, this raises an even more interesting possibility. Sakurai has strongly hinted that we’d see several noteworthy 3rd Party characters in the upcoming Brawl. What if their developers also contributed their talent for a particular level? We could see Yuji Naka developing a Sonic level. We could roll up trophies in a Takahashi-designed Katamari level. Hironobu Sakaguchi could treat us to an epic Final Fantasy stage.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, we salivate at the possibility of a Smash Bros. that isn’t just a dream team of characters, but a dream team of developers. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is set to be released in 2007 for the Wii. Stay tuned for updates as they make their way out of HAL HQ.

speachless!

Technically, Brawl is no longer being developed by Hal, but by a department made solely for this game (They needed ALOT more people than they used in Melee). It’s being called “The Studio”, I believe, until they announce an offical name.

omg this totally makes the idea of viewtiful joe as a character way better…WHY? comeon the whole game is like a SSBM adventrure gameadn the levels will be all 2D celshaded like

Newcomer: Zero Konami Kojima
Come to think of it, that’s a bit of a mouthful.

@ mike:
OH MAN! That would be so bad ass. But i’d prefer Protoman x)

“We could roll up trophies in a Takahashi-designed Katamari level.”
Its too bad it wont happen since he apparently doesn’t like the controller.
NEEKS - 07.31.06 4:40 pm
@ Neeks:
Yeah, but you don’t need the Wii-mote
Donato - 07.31.06 4:46 pm
Yeah, I don’t think he hated the GCN controller! =D
If only Mappy could make it in…
Or the five FF characters that made it in Mario Hoops. Black Mage would pwn in Brawl! B)
Capp'n - 07.31.06 4:57 pm
Well… He didn’t so much as let that info slip, he openly announced it :p
Arcanis - 07.31.06 5:23 pm
Yuki Naja? I think the name you’re thinking of is Yuji Naka.
I definately can’t wait for Brawl and I’m REALLY hoping that Sonic and Viewtiful Joe will be in it.
Vitius - 07.31.06 5:24 pm
@ Vitius
Sometimes I’m lisdexic like that.

As long as it’s better than that Infinite Glacier crap from Melee…
As much as I love the Ice Climbers, I’ve never seen anyone willingly play their stage.
Rynen10K - 07.31.06 6:38 pm
So are we talking about a single stage or one of those adventure stages. If someone like Megaman is there, the adventure stage for him should mimic a short version of one of his stages in, say, Megaman 2 including a well-known Megaman boss at the end.
Questworld - 07.31.06 9:56 pm
I thought he hinted at just one or two more third parties at the most? Plus Takahashi hates most games I thought and hates the Wii and left the Katamari franchise to work on playgrounds or something like that?
Matthew(Someguy) - 07.31.06 11:41 pm
Just as long as Sonic is in there, I don’t care.
Conan-san - 08.01.06 2:56 am
MGS is a stealth game, we will probably play hide and seek in Snake’s level. When Snake is caught hiding under the box, all he has to do is bring out his cigarettes and blow smoke-rings to infect them with cancer.
chris - 08.01.06 4:02 am
Mega Man ? Viewtiful Joe ? Sonic? please keep all third parties character away from this game.
Lion Noir - 08.01.06 10:51 am
one of the most awesome characters that theyre putting in is zero suit samus. theyre having the link from twilight princess. some other characters are Meta Knight, Pit and the Wario you know from the “WarioWare” series (one of his attacks is a fart). there is a screenshot with a nintendog in it(i just hope it’s not going to be a character even though it could be cool.

This is truly excellent news in my opinion. Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii was already one of my most anticipated games for 2007, but it’s just gone up even more. Nintendo is going to have a real winner on their hands and I’m happy that Hideo Kojima will contribute to the game; hopefully Snake will also have some awesome alternate costumes.

I like the Idea of Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii but, I think the experience would be better if they also had a version for the Nintendo DS. they would have all the Melee characters with the new Brawl characters. you could also do wireless hook up and play smash bros. against each other. I would call it Super Smash Bros DS
King K. Rool - 08.05.06 12:52 am
Me again I also think that there should also be King K. Rool and his group. For the good side there should be Diddy Kong as well because they already have Donkey Kong. With the Wireless it would make it at least 2-4 players but if I could change that it would be 2-6 players at a time.
King K. Rool - 08.05.06 12:56 am
Sorry again I just remembered that that the Koopa should also be in a DS verson with K. Rool and Diddy Kong. I demand that the Japanese see this and come up with a game with these ideas because they are good ideas.
King K. Rool - 08.05.06 1:06 am
I DON’T THINK VIEWTIFUL JOE SHOULD COME AT ALL
KRYSTAL
BLAZIKEN
and KING DEDEDE
He doesn’t belong
But mad love for diddy kong
