Although the latest game has been out for months now, Animal Crossing love is still going strong worldwide. Support for the DS game remains impressive and the first details are beginning to emerge on the upcoming movie.

The official website for the movie has just opened, featuring all sorts of lovely artwork from the film. The trailer was also posted on the website, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come. The film stars a female protagonist who has, as you can probably guess, just moved into the remote village and needs a place to stay. All of the usual suspects — Tom Nook, Tortimer, etc — will make appearances in the story along with a new ninja character.

The movie will hit Japanese theaters on December 16th. Go see it or Tom Nook will make you an offer that you can’t refuse.

In America, Toys ‘R Us and Nintendo are working together to promote Wild World by offering owners of the game one of six rare items. To get this item, you just need to follow a few simple steps:

1. Write a message on some Bottle Mail and release it.
2. Go to your local Toys ‘R Us store and find the promotional booth.
3. Tap Tag Mode at the main menu. Someone should eventually arrive in your town.
4. Search for a Bottle Mail containing the rare item on the beach the next time you play Animal Crossing.
