Friday morning has barely started for anyone at 4cr and gaming news from around the globe has already started flowing into our mailbox. Instead of writing an individual post for each tidbit of news, here’s a little comprehensive news roundup.
First, the official site of Dragon Quest Monster - Joker and the teaser site of Star Fox Command are up. Check them out regularly as they will be updated with new content as the release date closes in.
Speaking of which, we mentioned Moogle being part of Mario Hoops 3-on-3 roster not too long ago, and its japanese site has just been updated once more to not only present Bowser as a new character, but 4 other characters from the Final Fantasy universe. Ninja, White Mage, Black Mage and the lovable Sabotender will be joining Mario and company on the court.
Anime fans rejoice! A 2nd Bleach DS game is on the way. Sega and Treasure are joining forces once again to bring new characters, levels and the introduction of Hollows to this Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection compatible fighter. Bleach DS 2nd will be playable at this year’s Jump Super Game Tour 2006, along with Dragon Quest Monster - Joker and other new Dragonball, One Piece, Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh games.
Want new screens to drool over? Well here’s Super Control Robot MG, Magical Vacation, Trion Cube, Super Paper Mario & Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Japan gets another special edition of the DS lite. Unlike the Final Fantasy III edition, 150 randomly drawn members of the Pokemon Daisuki Club in Japan will get their hands on this very limited Pikachu Daisuki Club DS Lite.
Finaly, the 3 first bit Generations titles started appearing on Japanese store shelves this week, and from locals and lucky importers impressions, the games rock and are perfect bathroom time wasters.
Thanks to all of you who sent in the numerous emails we received overnight.

Let this be the start of wonderful collaborations from Nintendo and SquareEnix!!!
Tennell - 07.14.06 11:00 am
O.K. I can deal with a few new faces in the Mario universe (but let’s not make this a habit SquareEnix).
Marc - 07.14.06 11:01 am
lmao, you spelled Yu-Gi-Oh wrong.
Sorry I just had to point that out cuz it’s kinda funny..
Mannie - 07.14.06 11:31 am
Mannie, it’s not “kinda funny,” it’s hilarious.
Jody - 07.14.06 11:54 am
I just spent half an hour watching the bit Generations gameplay stuff and I love it! Any word if this series will come to the states? I need Dialex and Orbital.
thrAsher - 07.14.06 11:58 am
thrAsher:
Yes, the bit Generations titles will be coming stateside as the Digiluxe Series, and all 7 titles will be available, some renamed.
Kevin - 07.14.06 12:24 pm
One more step towrads FF returning in full to Nintendo!
How about those Project Hammer shots? I’m big fan of Mission: Destroy All Enemies. Finally a game where you aren’t supposed to comfort all enemies! Innovative!
amanaplan - 07.14.06 12:27 pm
Oh, Happy Birthday Eric!
Marc - 07.14.06 12:40 pm
My Friday is almost over
But at least I heard some good news - Final Fantasy and Basketball!!
TK-Linx - 07.14.06 12:59 pm
Kevin, thanks. I was hoping so. Like you guys said, perfect for a couple minutes gaming when you got some downtime.
I also thought the Project HAMMER stuff looked decent. I love seeing the different uses for the controller the most, though.
thrAsher - 07.14.06 1:06 pm
I know accepting a smiling dancing cactus already requires a pretty significant suspension of disbelief, but putting that aside for a moment - as a player - wouldn’t he deflate the basketball?
Chris - 07.14.06 1:12 pm
I don’t think a cactus could pierce the leather of a basketball.
Also the spines may grouped together so it would work like a bed of nails.
Tox - 07.14.06 1:20 pm
If you look at the picture, the spines are on the head. So he wouldn’t (couldn’t) deflate the ball.
Marc - 07.14.06 1:33 pm
On the Mario Hoops website there is a third tab under the Characters section, so it’s a safe bet they will update again with even more characters.
Lostzenfound - 07.14.06 1:59 pm
A really nice choice when it come to the Square-Enix character universe. Those are legendary characters that we all learned and loved back in the NES days. I approve!

Is it just me, or do the enemies in this screenshot look vaguely like some of the enemies from Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects?
Treasure Skunk - 07.14.06 2:17 pm
Actually, I’d say they’re a dead ringer for Kow Yokoyama’s Maschinen Krieger designs.

I’m not too intrested in Project: Hammer. All it looks like is a simple hack and slash, it reminds me of that hulk game based off of the movie.
Which sucked.
Mario Hoops looks even better now with Square-Enix characters.
I’m awaiting the third page of players with excitement.
This is a sure fine way to say “Hey, we’ll be in Smash Brothers too!”
AND I’m now a little fuller after seeing the DQM-Joker site.
Sinnen - 07.14.06 5:05 pm
Which 2nd party company is making star fox command? It seems a little rushed, and I wouldn’t expect it to fall short of expectations (though it’s come upon us so fast I don’t think expectations have even had time do grow)
Matt - 07.14.06 5:27 pm
The Bit Generations games appear to be all in English and yesasia has them for 18.99 each, no shipping. I mean, the instruction manuals will still be in crazy moon language.
BrianG - 07.14.06 5:39 pm
Most people agree that Hulk game didn’t “suck”. Perhaps it is not the type of game some are looking for, but it was well constructed on the home consoles.
Tony - 07.14.06 5:53 pm
I would like to comment that it is Saturday morning in Japan. And I am hating it. Going home today so I had to get up ear…zzzzzzzzzzzZzzZZZZzzzzzzz
Matt L. - 07.14.06 7:03 pm
i would much prefer other characters in the nintendo universe than final fantasy characters. i don’t know. i just want to see link do a slam dunk for god’s sake!!
lawrence - 07.14.06 7:21 pm
I bet Square Enix could find ways to fit other characters in. Maybe that Black Mage could slam dunk a Bomb monster (or maybe a Slime!) instead of a ball?
Add a tonberry or Cait Sith and I might just keel over in anticipation
Garrett - 07.14.06 8:31 pm
4CR’s been linked by Penny-Arcade.
amanaplan - 07.14.06 8:53 pm
A second Bleach DS game, still made by Treasure with a Guardian Heroes esque single player addition? Mario 3 on 3 is cool and all, but I think this is the big news.
jaw70 - 07.14.06 9:49 pm
Matt: I think it’s said Starfox Command was a title which they had already started on (?) for SNES or atleast already planned so who can say how much development time they have put into it?
Hagge - 07.15.06 4:36 am
Did anyone else notice that the DQ Monsters site has the “WFC” logo? Because that’s a pretty rad thing.
coreywhompus - 07.15.06 9:49 am
Sweet pixilated christ this is great frakin’ news.
[MaSQuE] - 07.15.06 1:49 pm
Truthfully, I don’t mind the addition of SquEnix’s characters. I mean, alot of their games as of late have…well…sucked… but those ones were for the PS2. And anyway, as many have said, I think this could be the step of Nintendo and SquEnie reuniting. How glorious that would be.
Truthfully though? I’d give up all the FF characters (except the moogle) if they’d just slap in Geno from Super Mario RPG.
