Last week, while on the bus, I realized how awesome it would be if Nintendo started releasing limited edition NES-themed DS lites. Imagine: Just under the clear outer plastic coating are simple, beautiful pixels taken straight from the likes of Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Excitebike, and more. I’m thinking original Metroid Samus, about an inch and a half tall, on the lower left side of the black DS lite. Man, just thinking about it makes my glasses fog up.
Okay, back in the real world, I’m happy to announce that Square-Enix has beaten Nintendo to the punch! That’s right, when FFIII is released in Japan on 8/24, gamers will have the option of picking up a limited edition white DS lite/FFIII bundle (pictured above) for 22,780 Yen, the exact price of the unit plus the game. Pretty awsome, huh? I can’t wait to see what further special edition DS lites are to come our way in the future. Maybe my decision to stick with my phat for a while was a good one after all… 
Also, Japan is getting Jet Black on 9/2, bringing the grand total to five colors so far: Crystal White, Ice Blue, Enamel Navy, Noble Pink, and Jet Black. Which one’s your favorite? I’m into white and navy, myself.
So, when exactly is the U.S. going to get another color? We’ve been stuck with just white, while Europe got Black AND White, and Japan has 3 with another 2 on the way, not counting the special editions.
And, I rather like Ice Blue.

And a little (NES) Link the size of my thumb, with the Master Sword held up in the air as if he just picked it up? They could even make the sword slightly holographic or something.

I like the white one best. Have bought it right on release-day here in europe… a friend of mine has bought the black one same day and we exchanged the replacement pens so each of us has both a white and a black pen to choose…
Still the white is better than the black because of its translucent surface and because you don’t see each fingerprint on the surface like you do on the black…

I’m tired of waiting for Nintendo to announce other colors for the U.S. I’m getting a white DS lite NOW.
(although probably as soon as I leave the store, Nintendo would probably announce 4 new colors for America. That always happens to me.)

I love the jet black… it is so shiny. However, the Final Fantasy III is underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, I life FF, but there is something about the design.

Actually 22,780 yen is around $200 but that kinda throws me off. I also stuck with my Phatty so I want to sell it now and get this…*drool*
