Echo Delta was an eagerly anticipated game for the N64 that was to be released in December 2000. It was a strategy game developed by Clover Leaf and financed by Marigul that had several RPG elements mixed in. Your goal in each mission is to rescue a sunken ship within an 18 minute time period. The development process seemed to be going well until the game just disappeared from release lists.
Until now that is.
An eBay auction has popped up with a prototype of the game. It isn’t certain how much of the game is there, but this might be the same 90% complete build that was previewed on Ign back in 2000.
If you have $1520 on hand, this is your chance to play a never-released N64 game. The seller hinted that he may sell another unreleased Marigul game soon, so we’ll keep our eyes open and we’ll let you know what other treasures pop up.

raindog - 07.08.06 4:18 pm
I made an offer for $1500. apparently that extra $20 is reaaaaallly important.
ellipsis - 07.08.06 4:20 pm
im sorry, but that is to say the least, ridiculous. dont get me wrong, im sure that it is an excellent game, but nearly 1600 dollars? fat chance. this guy should be ashamed of himself on so many levels.
spook - 07.08.06 5:25 pm
if it was under a thousand i would buy it
bug guy - 07.08.06 6:20 pm
LOL @ Greg
Supa - 07.08.06 7:41 pm
Why should he be ashamed? You’re just jealous.
Although I DO have to wonder how he got it. Did he steal it from Nintendo while he was working there? I didn’t think unfinished games were suppoed to leave headquarters.
Maybe if enough people bug Nintendo about it, they will put it on Virtual Console.

Yeah, hopefully the lucky buyer will dump it for the rest of the world to enjoy. Then, I’ll shower him/her with, um… well I’ll be happy.

Now I may be wrong about this, but I seem to remember Marigul being a recruitment company - it would contract small developers to develop games for Nintendo. One of their success stories (for lack of a better term) is with Custom Robo and its developer, NOISE.
This was mentioned in EGM many years ago, so maybe my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Heh. Now that I look at the screenshot, it says “CleverTrick(Marigul), so it’s safe to assume that CleverTrick was the dev contracted by Marigul to make the game.

This is great and all, but I really care about Mother 3 (N64) resurfacing.
DeAngelo Guillory - 07.09.06 4:17 am
How the hell did he get that??
I want top secret Nintendo goodies!!!!!!!!
Dan - 07.09.06 10:19 am
Like Raindog said, I can only hope that the guy who wins, dumps it so that I could give it a shot.
Cameron - 07.09.06 1:22 pm
Cubivore was developed by Saru Brunei, not Marigul.
Chuck - 07.09.06 3:11 pm
@ Chuck,
I think Saru Brunei was working under Marigul’s supervision. Marigul is a firm that finances small developers.
I’m editing the post a bit to reflect that.
Greg - 07.09.06 4:58 pm
@ Volt,
I looked into it a bit more and you’re absolutely correct. Post has been edited to reflect that.

Seems pretty cheap for an unreleased game. Some Neo-Geo prototypes have gome for $20,000+
Under 2 grand for a one of a kind piece seems like a steal. Not that I have that kind of money. Just Sayin’

ellipsyou did not make that offer you made that up
