Our wait is finally over! Well… almost. The series of retro-looking puzzles games that I’ve been looking forward to since E3 2005 will make its way to Japanese store shelves this month, starting July 13th for Series 1 and July 27th for Series 2.
The official site for the bit Generations game series is now online, and offers lots to please the eyes and ears. Explore each game’s mini-site to watch small demos on how to play and listen to the amazing soundtrack each has to offer. If you feel like using an online translator, you also have access to the Bulletin Boards where people testing the games have been posting their impressions for some days now.
I’m particularly looking forward to getting my hands on Dialhex and dotstream from Series 1 and Coloris from Series 2. Which ones do you plan on getting, fellow rebels?

Wow - someone other than me looking forward to this!

dont really get the other two, but dialhex looks pretty cool
. nice to see stuff like this, very interesting and unique

Is there going to be enough content in /each/ of these to be worth ¥2000? Seems to me that each Series should be contained on one cartridge for one price, if not ALL of them on one cartridge (if there’s enough space). As it stands, with upwards of $30 to import just one of them… just doesn’t seem worth it, interested though I am.
Apfhex - 07.02.06 5:14 pm
Yeah, I’m pretty much on the same side as Apfhex. They’re all amazing-looking, but not $30 each-amazing. I’ll wait a bit for a possible localization announcement, then bite the bullet and drop the cash. Play-Asia coupons, here I come…

bit Generations will be coming stateside later this year as the Digiluxe Series.
Kevin - 07.02.06 5:28 pm
wait? these games are really all being sold seperately? egads. well thats out.
lawrence - 07.02.06 5:52 pm
very cool and very stylish. but i dont think id pay anything more than $10 for each of them separately, unless they turn out to be really really amazing. id like them to put each series into one cart and sell it regular price.

The trailer, site and the games themselves look most stylish - I would put my hands on dotsteam without hesitation, for sure. :B

Very excited about these titles, but I do hope they’re not going to be full price releases…I love the thinking behind these titles, the spirit of innovation, the aesthetics, the sounds…but full price would kill this series right off the bat, at least in the west.

I can’t wait to buy it for my retro special edition gameboy micro! oh and for anyone who cares, acording ot nintendoworld there will be no guest aperances there for the rest of this year except POSSIBILITY FOR THE WII RELEASE!
TYTY - 07.02.06 8:47 pm
tight
TEK - 07.02.06 8:52 pm
are they only for teh micro or soemthing?
NEEK - 07.02.06 11:16 pm
No, they can’t do that, just any GBA-compatible system, but them Micro’s are the best looking so they show it the most. The games look interesting to me, but I don’t buy GBA games anymore (DS owner now), so I’m out.
LuckyBum - 07.02.06 11:59 pm
These games look really cool!

Nintendo acts really fair to plan such things on GBA. I mean that they could stop supporting GBA over year ago, but they didn’t!
Inlagd DS (Poland) - 07.03.06 1:17 am
ha! that is pretty tight. but its a little too late, doncha think? Nintendo is phasing out the gba due to the massive success of the ds. I dont want to be rude to any gba owners, but they shoulda released this on ds with touch screen functionality. Or they should’ve lauched it with the gba micro( as opposed to the sp), cause it gets me wanting a micro for myself.
by the way they should just call it bit generations because it sounds so damn cool

I already preordered Dotstream and Boundish, hope Nintendo will open soon series 2 site, i’m so curious about those games, they seem very weird!
Moor-Angol - 07.03.06 6:44 am
Dotstream reminds me of the old flash game where you try to keep the helicopter from crashing.
I’m also looking forward to orbital, because it looks VERY similar to a game I made for one of my game prototyping classes.
Also, sound exploerer or whatever looks interesting, too.
Rynen10K - 07.03.06 6:59 am
At £10 each from play-asia I’m contemplating getting them all!
Definitely: dotstream, dialhex, orbital
Maybe: digidrive, soundvoyager
It’s a shame “eyeball” from the early video on IGN has vanished, as it looked quite interesting. http://tinyurl.com/gmka5
matt - 07.03.06 8:12 am
eyeball reminds me of “Sticky Balls” by ZedTwo/Warthog which was prototyped on the PC and then - due to some silly bureaucracy - only released on the Gizmondo handheld.
matt - 07.03.06 8:17 am
They looked cool until I realized they’re sold separately. Come on Nintendo, you could fit each series on a cart.
amanaplan - 07.03.06 11:17 am
Boundish, Orbital and Soundvoyager look the best in my opinion, though I wouldn’t mind trying Digidrive or Dotstream.
ShadowXP - 07.03.06 11:27 am
What? What the heck is this? Did I miss something?
BreakfastPills - 07.03.06 11:40 am
I’m not sure why anyone would pay money for what are essentially simple flash games. If they released these as a pack of 20 for the DS Lite with touchscreen features, that would be great, but otherwise, meh.
Philip Cassini - 07.04.06 6:52 pm
man these look awesome
