Yet another Opera Community member got his hands on a preview copy of the Nintendo DS Browser, and, while his write-up is quite interesting, this part in particular caught my attention…

Yes, you can take screenshots, but that was the only feature I didn’t have time to explore. I assume they are stored on the RAM cart and can be viewed seperately, but this is speculation on my part. Favorites are saved however.

As I suspected from this screenshot released during E3, the Nintendo DS Browser will in fact be able to take screenshots of web sites. What for? I have no clue, and unless you can transfer those on your desktop, I don’t really see its purpose.

Browsing the web is nice, but what about the kids? What about their beautiful virgin eyes? You want to keep them safe don’t you? Well Nintendo signed a deal with DigitalArts which will offer a filtering service for the Nintendo DS Browser for a mere monthly fee of 315 JPY (~$2.70 USD). The service will become available starting July 24th, day of the browser’s release.

Oh, and the Nintendo DS Browser official site is now online. Go check it out. ;)
