I’m going to let you in on a little secret, rebels - Futurama is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. Along with Mission Hill, the Critic and the Simpsons (all of which used very interesting means of animation), Futurama stands as a shining city on the hill for what a good show should be. And, like many other male fans that’re too scared to admit it, I cried when Fry couldn’t play his opera at the very end of the series.
But when that happened, I was floored — how could they cancel this show? This is even funnier than the Simpsons! I couldn’t believe it, and I never did. I held out hope that it’d return.
And thanks to the hard work of the guys at the New York Post, it’s now been confirmed that Futurama is officially heading to Comedy Central for 13 new episodes, with a straight-to-DVD release right after the full air. All of the original voice actors signed deals, and it’s officially official.
Can’t type. Peeing pants.

I don’t even have any sort of TV connection. I haven’t for two years now and I probably never will again because all I hafta do is go to Best Buy and pick up whatever season I want of whatever show wasn’t good enough to make it on TV, yet for some reason flies off the shelves in DVD form.
I’m glad to hear Futurama is back. I think it’s the show that Matt Groening’s good ideas went too after he did all he could with the Simpsons.
So when are The P.J.’s comeing out on DVD? That was a freakin FUNNY show (in it’s first season anyway) that got booted off and replaced with that sitcom crapfest That 70’s Show. That was the first sign that Fox was headed down hill.

So…much…joy…
Futurama = Love

Okay people, yes futurama was good, yes fox kills everything i love (arrested development, firefly, wonderfalls, undeclared, family guy, running the simpsons into the ground) but if they bring it back, it probably won’t be as good, that’s the problem with nostalgia. Just watch the reruns and be happy with DVD’s, i really don’t want to see this become the next family guy. And for the record, wasn’t al gore’s daughter, kristen gore, a head writer for the show and that’s why he was on it those couple times and bender is now whoring for his movie? And did anyone else take a while to warm up to futurama because the simpsons were still good then, and it just seemed foul somehow?
Pat - 06.28.06 8:03 pm
futurama sucks
john - 06.28.06 10:58 pm

Trae - 06.29.06 12:08 am
Jurassic Bark was the futurama i hated the most.. mostly cuase i saw it right after my dog had died…

This thread is made of win. You sir win 3 internets.
Zakku - 06.29.06 1:57 pm
Quit whining about 2008.
If Fry’s dog could wait, then so could you.

I cried to! But I’m a girl so it’s ok for me to admit it.
But really I agree, even better than family guy. However I think Mission Hill and Futurama come pretty close.
But watch some moron will claim that the show offends them in some absurd way and it will be cancelled, again. It’s almost inevitable, because people can’t suck it up and grow a sense of humor or a brain for that matter.
Well, you get my point. Chances are though if they can play South Park all the time, Futurama will survive the nonsensical beatings.

Serves those douches at Fox right. They actually cancelled Futurama! This kicks ass! I’m going to watch every episode!
Twicky - 06.29.06 8:41 pm
That’s kinda like how Futurama was shown on free to air TV here in Australia. When it was first on channel 7 they put it on at 11:30 pm, therefore killing it (They did the same thing with Scrubs and Arrested Development). After a few years Channel 10 put it on at 8:00 and it was one of their best raters. Anyway, I sure hope these new episodes are up to standard of the old ones.

OH YEAH!!!! Futurama’s going to be back on the air!!! Woot Woot! I loved this show and was so pissed off when they cancelled it.
But its coming back and now i am dancing around in my happy place.
And which of the cast died?
Jon - 06.29.06 10:08 pm
Great Zombie Jesus!
Givenup - 06.30.06 3:14 pm
None of the main cast have died. Billy West, Katey Segal, John De Maggio, Dave Herman, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, Maurice LeMarche, Tress McNeille and even Frank Welker are still all alive and well.
Hopefully people are smart enough to make this return a huge ratings and DVD hit. Fox need to be shown that shows they cancel are successes.
*mutters about Arrested Development and Firefly before leaving*
Bender - 06.30.06 3:21 pm
Family guy, now this.
Long live cartoons.
Dali - 06.30.06 5:21 pm
Futurama was that show that could make you laugh and cry at the same time. Yes I am a guy and I have admitted to crying when they showed the episodes with Frys’ Dog and Frys’ Nephew (Can’t spell)
Fry - 07.01.06 2:41 pm

HUZZAH ITS COMING BACK!
I love you people who brought back Futurama…The only thing that annoys me slightly is the Date 2008.
Though “Good things come to those who wait.”
Shadow - 07.02.06 4:02 pm
I also admit to crying at the end of the dog episode, it’s the old song playing that really got to me.
I cried at the end of the opera episode too, but I think that’s cuz I’m bipolar and I was already feeling like crap.
Any way FUTURAMA Awesome to the max.
CaptainSmurf - 07.02.06 4:45 pm
yay futurama was easily one of the best shows ever!
and i almost cried on the episode with fry’s dog too
it was so sad. and i have faith that as long as they dont make any drastic changes to the way they make futurama that it will remain good for at least another 4 more seasons.. but after that it might start to look like fry’s petrified doggie
…
munis - 07.02.06 8:20 pm
So excited Futurama is coming back!!!!!
Jarassic Bark was a good episode, but I’d have to say my two favorites are The Day the Earth Stood Stupid (”Now I am leaving for no raisin!”) and the one where Bender is floating in space and that colony of people lands on him and worships him. So awesome.
Simpsons is still funny. Not as good as Futurama or Family Guy, but still good.
C'nee - 07.03.06 11:24 am
An earlier poster wrote:
“Theres probably a reason why fox let CC show it. Its not the same quality. All the Futurama people are working on the Simpsons movie.”
That argument makes sense to me, except for one part: can we *honestly* say that Fox has any understanding of the concept of quality? Heh… I’m just glad their search for more money sometimes leads them to stumble across good shows like Futurama.
Radien - 07.04.06 7:43 pm
I heart Futurama, and I still watch the new Simpsons, it can still make me laugh. It helps if I try to disassociate it from ‘classic’ simpsons, and just appreciate it at face value. (cos I think the quality has declined)
Anyway, I’ve never seen arrested development, mission hill, or the critic….
johanna - 07.04.06 8:46 pm
As a long-time fan of the series, let me say this - HELL YES! HELL FRIGGING YES!
Lance Johnson - 07.06.06 11:08 pm
Awesome! I never get tired of that show! I would have to say my favorite episode of all time is the one when they go to the Slurm factory. Drunka Lunkas………Priceless!
Sarah - 07.07.06 9:07 pm
Oh, hell yeah. Futurama is one of the best TV shows ever. Every character is awesome, even my least favorite Zap Brannigan (I think we’re meant to hate him though).
As for my favorite episodes, I’d go with the Anthologies of Interest, especially the second one.
Ein Dose - 07.08.06 8:18 pm
Hee, yet another person who likes Mission Hill! I really wish there were more episodes of that series–there actually was a bit of growth in the characters by the end, and then the show cut off. Sadness.
But about Futurama: WOO HOO! That’s exciting. “Luck of the Fryish” and the dog episode always make me cry. I also like the ending montage of “Leela’s Homeworld.” As for my favorite “funny” episode, I’d have to go with the “Tales of Interest” segment in which the world becomes a video game. (Oh, like that’s unexpected?)
Anywho, great news! I’m looking forward to it.
EB - 07.09.06 3:50 pm
Firefly does suck. If you really want a show that deserved a ressurection, it was Brimstone.
SnowWolf - 07.09.06 5:25 pm
Futurama was my favorite show EVER, and when they cancelled it, I almost went on a killing spree
Has anyone seen Office Space? That had David Herman in it too, and I would say that it ranks among the funniest movies of all time!!
BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!!!
DYLAN - 07.10.06 4:31 pm
Oh, BTW, wtf is mission hill?? Its a famous winery where I live (Kelowna, BC, canada)
DYLAN - 07.10.06 4:33 pm
YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY

Tyler - 07.14.06 3:40 pm
