Unplug yourself, but stick with Nintendo. The first shots of Nintendo Monopoly have surfaced, showing off the cool metal pieces and some of the game squares.
The summer gaming drought will soon be over, Nintendo Monopoly is going to be released in July. Pre-orders are being taken now for 35.95 at www.usaopoly.com. Gamers love pre-orders right? The big surprise about the game is you will not play the game as Nintendo characters but as objects in the classic Nintendo world. The Nintendo Collector’s edition comes complete with 6 collectible pewter tokens featuring Mario’s Cap, Link’s Iron Boots, Donkey Kong’s Barrel, Hylian Shield, Koopa Shell and NES Controller.
Monopoly is one of the few board games that I’m very familiar with and really enjoy. That and Candy Land. I enjoy Monopoly and I’ll be picking this up… but it might take some convincing to get my friends to actually sit down long enough to play a full game. Ahh, short attention spans. Now we just need to see a Nintendo themed Risk.

The pieces are really neat, but why are the spaces on the board characters? You don’t *buy* Princess Zelda, you buy, say, Turtle Rock.

I am SOOOO calling dibs on the Nes Controller piece for the rest of my life.
SereneCrimson - 06.09.06 8:39 pm
Wow!
That is awesome. The NES Controller is even gritty looking
Awesome

Only one thing. Why two Legend of Zelda pieces? Why no metroid?
Oh well, I’m definitely buying the second I see in stores.

$300 for Princess Zelda, I’d buy that.
But yeah I agree it should be places such as Mushroom Kingdom, Delfino Square, Hyrule Castle, Outset Island and so on.
Still looks kool, I’ll pick one up just for the sake of it.

I like the pieces, but — Iron Boots? Why not…something else? MYLES mentioned that a Metroid piece would be nice — and seriously speaking, Iron Boots aren’t the most symbolic things ever.

Monopoly: Yes.
Nintendo: Yes.
Monopoly + Nintendo: Yes.
Buying Princess Zelda: No.
I don’t know what they were thinking, but the people that designed the spaces have to get the characters OFF! I’m not going to buy Link. *Shudder* Lets get some places in here…like SR-388.

The boxart and board look like they took whatever clipart they could find. That’s somewhat dissapointing, I want to buy Great Bay or Princess Peach’s Castle, not Princess Peach herself!
Matthew(Someguy) - 06.09.06 10:32 pm
Boots=yesss! no metroid+nooo!
Alex - 06.09.06 10:38 pm

Trainwrecka - 06.09.06 11:22 pm

If there isn’t at least one drawing of rich uncle pennybags dressed like mario on a chance/community chest card, I’m gonna be superpissed.

“Unplug yourself, but stick with Nintendo.”
*Nintendo rep sees that and writes it down for the ad campaign*
Seriously, good line.

I told you it was real guys

So this isnt a parker bros authorized deal?
NoBullet - 06.10.06 1:54 am
They seemed to have the design of this game a bit backwards. Surely it would’ve been much cooler to have the pieces as, say, Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, Samus and Fox McCloud. Then to have the properties as classic game locations such as Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule etc?
Brooga - 06.10.06 1:56 am
Wait, why do you ‘play’ as stuff like Mario’s hat, but buy people?
Isn’t that backwards?
Conn - 06.10.06 3:21 am
That actually makes more sense Conn, cause the people will have to carry you with you owning them and all.

Has anyone else seen the Nintendo UNO cards? I really regret not picking them up.
