Many of you have already heard of these cheap DS design rip-offs. And they are everywhere, but this one has got to be my favorite, I mean it’s like they are not even trying. This is the “COMPACT G” being modeled by the lovely Misako. And boy does this thing look fun. Let’s get a closer look.

Now who wouldn’t want to play that? This was being sold near the gum and little toys at a family restaurant called “Gusto”. Actually, I wouldn’t have even noticed this thing has I not overheard this conversation.

Little Kid: Mom! Look at this it’s a DS! And it’s very cheap!
Mom: I don’t know about that..
Little Kid: But it looks just like a little DS!
Mom: I don’t think it’s the same.

I think that is the first time I have ever heard a mom know what she is talking about when it comes to game buying decisions. I know a lot of moms who would go, “wow, this is that DS my kid keeps bugging me about, and such a good price.” Maybe it is the fact that the DS is so well known in Japan now. Even adults know what a real one is or isn’t.

I was tempted but in the end I decided not to buy it. As cool as it is to own total crap, I was pretty sure it would take me longer to get it out of the packaging that the amount of time I would actually spend playing it.
