Over the last week whenever I have a free moment I’m immersed in video game news. More so than normal. Everywhere I turn, be it on the net, in video game dedicate magazines or more mainstream magazines, everyone is talking about the next generation of gaming. I seriously haven’t been this excited about gaming since the lead up to the N64 launch.
All of the big gaming magazines are really firing on all cylinders lately and worth picking up for all their juicy news, but here on the internet there is even more goodness. Below I have attempted to compile a list of all of the cool interviews I’ve read recently. Tons of great stuff and each one gets me progressively more excited about the launch of the Wii. And if it’s going to make the holiday season then we really don’t have long to wait!

Michel Ancel on Rayman Raving Rabbids - Ign
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Interview - PlanetGameCube
Wario Ware Smooth Moves Director - Gamasutra
Epic in Talks With Nintendo - Joystiq
EA VP Talks Next Gen - Business Week
Miyamoto Flattered by PS3 Controller - Edmonton Sun
Iwata Says PS3 Won’t Affect Wii - GameDaily
Now, for a few other little things. As I said, I’ve seen a ton of mainstream coverage of gaming lately and to the general public, the Wii is very exciting. Case in point, Newsweek gushes about the Wii and its potential in the next gen. After that there are some videos for you to check out and finally, some more info about the actual Wii hardware.

That Newsweak article, although it tries to put Nintendo in a good light, has a fair few facts wrong in there. DS isn’t replacing the GB (even Iwata has confirmed this recently, GB is just on hold for now while they focus on non-gamer stuff), talks about Nintendo in the past as if they were going to leave making hardware but fails to mention that Nintendo has the largest profits of all the hardware companies.
Its annoying that its these kind of articles that get read by the people not in the know, but they aren’t very well informed. Like what someone said the other day about some DJ on the radio who sprouted out some misinformation on games and now there’s millions of listeners who thinks he knows something…

The interview for the Opera browser on the Wii is very intriguing. Most of the good stuff is kept secret, but this one quote intrigued me greatly:
“IGN Wii: Will Opera on Wii come standard with the console?
Scott Hedrick: Nintendo has not yet announced how Opera will be available on Wii, but I can confirm that it will not be sold as a separate item, as it is for Nintendo DS. “

Wait… no multi-controller multiplayer for Smooth Moves!? Barf!
Although it is great to hear that the microgame levels will be based on the characters again and not on the control style. “Reality Games!” is always a more fun level that “Games Where You Spin Things!”.

Is the Wii going to support 4 Gamecube controllers? This is what was stated about a year ago, but I haven’t heard anything about the support of 4 GC controllers from this year’s E3?
