Glad I Bought Those Screen Protectors

I was teaching my Sunday English class, when I looked to the corner of the room and discovered that the younger sister of one of my students had found the DS in my backpack. I usually leave it in sleep mode so she didn’t have to turn it on or select a game, but I am still impressed that she managed to get the stylus out and start playing a game by herself. She had just turned 2 years old the day before.

She had started up a game of Brain Training and was having blast writing on my new DS lite. It was so cute I didn’t have the heart to tell her to stop. I took a picture and as I did I noticed that she was actually getting some of the math problems right. Of course this is just random coincidence that occasionally her scribbles look like numbers, but it was still pretty incredible to watch. If you look closely in the picture, you can see the green check mark, which indicates that she got the previous question right.

I love the look of concentration as she plays DS just like her older siblings. This could be a future pro-gamer in the making. Or maybe it is just a toddler who found a very pretty, shiny thing.

LOL. How cute.

Are you using the same Screen Protectors from an old DS or did you get new ones specifically for the lite? If so, which ones did you get? I’ve been using boxwave’s for my old DS since March of last year and I haven’t had to clean them yet.

Hehe, yeah, a little after the DS came out, my little sister (then 3) would sometimes grab my DS, and hide somewhere, as she played Super Mario 64 DS.

Very Cute, that just melted my cold gamer heart…and I think someone owns a DS for themselves (or at list her older siblings do)… Otherwise she wouldn’t know what it is or how to use it.

My 3 year old son has his own DS (I got tired of cleaning the goo off the screens). It’s got screen protectors on. Let’s just say those things can take a beating! I keep Mario Kart in there, which he loves, although he usually drives backwards.

Batmyke on May 23, 2006 at 2:47 pm

Yeah… it’s like that. I have a 2 year old and a 3-1/2 year old who plays Nintendogs regularly. He’s already learned how to do everything in the game without any help, which is a testament to the pick-up-and-playability of the DS and many of its games.

That’s adorable. You should mail Nintendo Power about that. It be cool to put in the “community” section. This has probably already been stated, but that’s a testament to how intuitive the DS is.
