Is it Monday already? Where did the weekend go! Anyway, this week Edgar and I start off the podcast with the news as usual. A bit of a slow week, but Wii all know what the big news was. Also, don’t forget that the Eets contest ends today.
Next up on the podcast is an excellent user submitted Listener Showcase about just how great the 4cr Forums are. No, I didn’t ask them to do it… our Forumites are just that cool. Sideath gathered the troops and made a nice little bit on the great community going on in our forums. Awesome.
After that we have a roundtable that talks about what current generation problems we see on consoles that we hope are alleviated on the next gen systems. Some of it is graphical stuff, but it’s more than just that.
And finally we have some funny voicemails and a nice song called Wii Will Rock You. All hilarious!

Ah I’ve been waiting for this all weekend, I hope you guy put in the Wii will rock you song I suggested!
Spence - 05.01.06 10:19 am
Not bad. I loved this Roundtable.
Dascu - 05.01.06 10:25 am
Yo, the iTunes feed hasn’t updated- I’m not sure if it has a lag to be checked for content or whatever.
Gonna listen to the .mp3 this week instead.
Spence - 05.01.06 10:39 am
Whoops. Marked the iTunes feed with March instead of May. Fixed and working now.
Nick - 05.01.06 10:48 am
I didn’t even notice there were forums!

Great PodCast ^^
and by the way: Europe is far more developed compared to the US
the US are just a colony of the UK …
well, Germany is still Europe’s number one!
Spot2 - 05.01.06 12:16 pm
Did I win?
(The only country more wired than Canada is Japan.)
amanaplan - 05.01.06 12:52 pm
Hey i the freak singin “Wii will rock you” at the end
, haha, cheers for puttin me on it. Also enjoyed the rest of the podcast, all good stuff, great work
Mokong - 05.01.06 2:16 pm
@ Nick: You might want to check out Crysis. The game is supposed to improve on a lot of the stuff you mentioned you want from next-gen-gaming.
Also stop insulting us Europeans.
Sagan - 05.01.06 3:02 pm
Oh also you got a LOT of things wrong in the podcast… Can’t remember all of them, but the grass in Oblivion does actually not pop in. But you can set it that way for a smoother framerate.
Also I think there have been made announcements for PS3 online service, and it’s not going to be like the PS2 one, and it’s going to be free. However I don’t remember more than that.
Sagan - 05.01.06 3:15 pm
I really, really, really did not enjoy the Listener Showcase. Anyone else? The rest of the podcast was great as usual!!
Namssorg - 05.01.06 4:13 pm
This was a great round table god is was great to listen to while i grinded in WoW.
Naveed - 05.01.06 4:16 pm
@ Namssorg
Why didn’t you enjoy it (I haven’t heard it yet - I always listen to the news then the roundtable first)
duncan - 05.01.06 4:42 pm
Haha there is Michael Tucker screaming “Wiiiiiii” into my phone.
Gongonzabar Farbin - 05.01.06 4:51 pm
i believe the question we’re all secretly asking is where is vinnk?
meanwhile, terrific podcast as always. i love the fact that they’ve been longer these last few times. i have 8 hours at work to fill, and the long podcast is definately appreciated.
jodyanthony - 05.01.06 4:51 pm
I know where Vinnk is.
That is, I would, but he extended the radius of the restraining order.
duncan - 05.01.06 5:10 pm
I found myself skipping from news to roundtable and then stopping there.
amanaplan - 05.01.06 5:49 pm
Vinnk was in the US
and i really loved the listener showcase
Great Work you forumites
Edgar - 05.01.06 6:08 pm
I want more Wii discussion next week.
Fish - 05.01.06 6:18 pm
THE BOB-OMB SCALE!!!
On a scale from 1-10, with 1 Bob-omb being “WORST PODCAST EVER!!!” and 10 Bob-ombs being “BEST PODCAST EVER!!!”
4CR Podcast 5/01/06
KiddKalen’s Rating: ****** (6 BOB-OMBS)
PROS:
-Great RoundTable topic once again. Good RoundTable all-around.
-”Wii Will Rock You” was awesome. Good way to end a good podcast.
-I Love Gish!! The multiplayer is a BLAST! Especially with gamepads. (Dreaming of a Wii remake.)
CONS:
-No Rebel in Japan.
-Neverending “Wiiiii–” voicemail was awful. The audio-bandwidth of Skype killed any humor in that by turning it into an obnoxious speaker-vibrating hum (at least on MY computer).
-No offense to other rebels (who ALWAYS do a good job) but I definitely like the News best when it’s Nick and Nick. And you really should call it “Icks-Nay on the Ews-Nay.”
KiddKalen - 05.01.06 7:11 pm
Nick, you mentioned something about 1UP knowing what the final Wii secret is and not being able to talk about it. Can you please link us to this knowledge? I have looked around 1UP and can’t find it. Thanks in advance.
KiddKalen - 05.01.06 7:13 pm
nice work guys
TakaM - 05.02.06 3:22 am
w00t!
Actually the forum feature was supposed to be longer… but my Audacity program collapsed… again.
Sideath - 05.02.06 5:03 am
No offense, but I hated the Forum part. Halfway through the OMG OUR FORUM IS TEH ROXXOR ass-kissing I fast forwarded straight to the roundtable.
Tetsuo - 05.02.06 10:37 am
hey, I just realized: the googles are back!
Spot2 - 05.02.06 6:30 pm
The googles?
KiddKalen - 05.02.06 8:25 pm
Hmm.. I really couldn’t get that excited about this podcast.. I can’t put my finger on it, but in a week where ‘Wii’ve’ (as in Nintendo fans) had so much to talk about, the news and round-table sections just seemed a bit directionless (sp).
I realize my own voicemail bits are usually quite floaty and unplanned, but that’s the nature of voicemails I guess! Good job I didn’t leave one this week (in all honesty I was going to, but I was left speechless by the Wii announcement!).. I think I would have been 1 Brit too many for most listeners!
Leeds_Guy - 05.03.06 3:26 am
I must agree with Leeds Guy actually on this one. My feature wasn’t brilliant… I just wanted to do it, and this week’s podcast was the first podcast that I actually skipped over bits, is it me or is the Roundtable getting a bit too long? eh? who’s with me?

Sideath - 05.03.06 9:42 am
Just a thought, but maybe it’s the way that people listen to a Podcast that can make or break them?.. What I mean is that Podcasts have always been ‘condensed’ alternatives to radio broadcasts that are generally more accessible and ‘on the go’. As they get longer, they get harder to listen to in one go.. and you risk losing the thread of the conversation.. I’ve noticed from some of the posts above that some people can listen to the whole thing in one sitting - personally I manage about 20 mins at a time as that’s the length of my commute each way.. The shorter, punchier podcasts do seem to have been more popular up to now though?..
Leeds_Guy - 05.03.06 11:18 am
Ill tell you a little secret about this podcast… it was a rush job. Normally I go through and edit everything with a fine toothed comb and take out all the akward pauses, reduncandcies and just plain pointeless dribble.
This week I was too swamped to do that and in an effort to get the thing out on time I just had to go with a lot of unedited stuff. I listened to it today on my way to work and while I think we did have some good stuff, it defintely could have used some editing.
Nick - 05.03.06 12:54 pm
All is forgiven, Nick. But just so you know, you would have earned only 4 Bob-ombs if it wasn’t for the great topic choice (for RoundTable) and the ‘Wii Will Rock You’ song. Onward and Upward, or whatever.
KiddKalen - 05.03.06 3:37 pm
It’s usually the pointless dribble that makes me laugh the most!
Pauses and stuff can really kill it though - as I know to my acute embarrasment every time I listen to one of my voicemails! I’m amazed you’re able to maintain this site, do the podcasts AND squeeze a life in there too though.. great job!
