Shortly after wrapping up his work on Chibi Robo, famed game producer Kenishi Nishi left Skip Ltd. (makers of Giftpia) to form his own company, Route24, and recently announced on his blog that he’s working on a new DS project - LOL DS!

Nishi worked on another title called LOL (which stands for Lack Of Love) back on the Dreamcast. The game was released only in Japan where you had to control a crustacean-like creature. Nishi points out on his blog that in this new DS game LOL also stands for laughing out loud, and that he wants to create a party game for 4-8 people on the DS.

Now, let’s jump back in time. Some months before the DS was released in stores, Nishi announced that he and his team at Skip were developing a new game for Nintendo’s newest handheld, but later retracted his revelation saying “Sorry, it was all a lie”.

LOL DS might be the same project Nishi said he was working on at the time, seeing how Skip never re-confirmed having a DS game in development. All that’s left is to play the waiting game. With the brilliance and charm of a game like Chibi Robo I sincerely hope this comes true and that we hear more soon.
