Getting down and dirty with Revolution LAN parties, surfing 4CR on your NDS, and the heartache that games can cause.

1. LANtastic
Hey, I was thinking if the Revolution would be able to “connect” to another Revolution kinda like two DSs, that way you could play 8-player or something without the needs for broadband adapters like in Mario Kart Double Dash!! I think this would be real cool to have lan parties. I went to a Halo lan party once, with Xboxes, and though it would be cool for the Revolution to system link without any necessary peripherals. Do you guys think this is possible. If so, what kind of possibilities does this hold, and what do you guys most want to play at a Revo lan party?
Thanks

-Reesecup

Nick Well, Im not sure it is possible or not. The GameCube was capable of doing so, so maybe the Revolution will be. However, Nintendo might just forgo this and instead choose to simply allow people to somehow connect via the Wifi.

As for what games Id like to see… well, I’ve never actually been to a Lan party, so I don’t know. My brother says Super Smash Bros is awesome for Lan parties. I’ll agree with him and say I’d defintely like to check out Smash Bros and maybe a new version of F-Zero.

Edgar Last I’ve heard, this feature was confirmed. I would need to double check, but I remember hearing about this. Mario Party 8 player, w/o sharing a controller like MP7 on the GC. Also just any kind of co-op games where you would each have your screen, like when you go to LAN parties.

Rumas Hmm…don’t think it’s gonna happen. Nintendo’s concentrating on simplicity in every way with Revolution, especially when it comes to connecting with other players. While it would be cool to see some LAN action, I think the focus will be kept on user-friendly Wifi, which is good enough for me.

2. Virtual Localization for Long Lost Games (On the Next Oprah)
OK, so I am really excited for the Revolution. I shall soon be a slut for retro Nintendo, but here’s a question: Would titles that weren’t released in the US (such as Wonder Project J for SNES, Wonder Project J2 for N64, Mother for NES, you get the idea) be on the Revo with ENGLISH menus, text, and such? Maybe Vinnk would like to see that…

-BJ Wanlund

Nick We are all sluts for Nintendo! Welcome to the club. Pimp Miyamoto.

And that is something that we are all keeping our fingers crossed for. The fact that the virtual console will be so accessible and cheap should entice gamers to try games they normally wouldn’t. Also, all those diehard gamers who have been waiting for English versions of these games would jump all over them. I certainly hope we see this kind of thing.

Edgar I’m not sure if they’ll go the extra mile to translate the games, if the game would need to be translated (like the original earthbound we didn ‘t get) the game itself would cost most than a game that was already translated. But I wouldn’t mind paying extra to play a great game that we’ve missed on.

Rumas Wonder Project! I was trying to think of that name recently but couldn’t recall it no matter how hard I tried. Thanks! Yeah, we all wanna see these games translated into English and available for download, and chances are we will. Nintendo knows the potential cash there is to be made off titles like Mother, Sin & Punishment and all the rest, and now that publishing costs are out of the picture, so is the risk! I don’t think there’s much room for doubt, so keep your hopes up.

3. Gotta Lose ‘em All!
Hey! Great job; I’ve been thinking about sending a letter just to make it to the mailbag but I hadn’t found anything worthwhile. Anyway, I really appreciate the outstanding job you do on this website, clean and with a very nice look. Anyway, just to make you comment about something, what’s the worst thing that have happened to you in a video game?

For example, after I had beaten Pokemon yellow, I just loved that game, so started to create a perfect party, all of them lvl 100. It was the most popular thing at stuff and I just loved showing everyone my awesome Starmie (Gosh, I can still remember it’s moves and all :p) and the rest of the party. I bet I had more than 100 hours in the game, when one day my mother said she had found my pack in the floor… I have no idea how it happenned, but when I inserted it in my Gameboy it just read something about a corrupted save and all my lvl 100 pokemons were gone… god I really cried that day XD. Eventually I remade my collection, but really, I was really bummed at the time.
So have you got anything like this happen to you guys?

Anyway, hope you keep updating and mantaining this website as well as you’ve done, keep up the hard work for all of us Costa Rican fans*!

Nick Fortunately, I don’t think I’ve ever lost a saved game.

Back when Super Mario Bros 2 came out I remember getting to final level and facing Wart for the first time. It’s one of the few times I remember actually shaking because I was so excited/nervous. My brother Matt and I had spent all day playing the game and were both really excited to get to the end. I think it was the combined greatness of the game and the fun between brothers that made it such a great experience.

Whoops, got sidetracked. Worst gaming moments… I can’t really say I have any other than the occasional game that fails to live up to expectations. It’s really a bummer when you save up and buy a game and it just isn’t fun. You sort of scold yourself and the developer. Makes me a little sad just thinking about it… all that wasted potential for hours of fun!

Edgar Me and my Dad used to play RPGs at the same time, and probly like once or twice, he saved over my game…. not that bad since we were usually close to each other in the game, so i could just start from where he saved, but it still pissed me off

Rumas My story took place this very day, actually. I was on a five hour bus ride back to Seoul from a city down south, and I woke up at dusk from a nap, well rested and ready for some Electroplankton. I popped it into my DS, and to my absolute horror, got the ‘Nothing Inserted’ message. I tried again and again, to no avail. I was ready to cry. Then I tried once more, and it worked. Phew. Disaster averted.

4. 4CR fanaticism
Hey everyone, I have 4 Color Rebellion as my homepage because its the page I check the most. I wanted to know, what is the page you check the most and/or your homepages. Thanks, and I have been sending out 4CR Blancas everytime she visits on AC:WW.

-Curtos

Nick Well, the page I probably check the most is my email homepage. But, besides that I have a few staple pages I visit (besides 4cr, duh). As far as gaming I check Joystiq, Kotaku, 1up, and the GAF forums. There are tons of other pages that I check, but not as often. I check pages like GamesIndustry, Lost Garden, VGM Watch and tons of other smaller sites.

As far as comics, I check out Newsarama, CBR, The Fourth Rail and a few others. I also dig Super Hero Hype.

Edgar First I check my Gmail the most, then I log into 4cr, even though i work for it, it’s still the site I check the most. I love reading all your comments. After checking 4cr, i check my google reader, for all the RSS feeds I have.

Rumas Right on, spreadin the 4CR love. My favorite/most frequently checked sites are 4CR, YakYak, Next-Gen, and yes, IGN. Say what you will about IGN, but of all the big sites, they’re still my favorite without a doubt.

5. Touching the Rebellion on your DS
Since the DS browser is coming out will 4 Color Rebellion have some special little thing thing just for the DS browser like some sites did for the psp browser?

-Adam Rankin

Nick As far as we can tell, the DS Opera browser should display 4 color rebellion just fine. We don’t think we will actually need to make any tweaks. However, once we get our gruby mitts on the thing we will check it out. If we do need to tweak the site or make a ‘lite’ version then you’d better believe we will be all over it!
