Continuing with the sweet DS modifications, here we have an amazing NES DS. The mod was created by a creative bloke name Hatrix. Here is how he did it:

I took apart the entire DS, sanded off the paint and rubbed it down with brasso to give it a nice polished finish.

Then I got a NES controller, carefully took off the face sticker logo and touched up the odd bits with my girlfriends nail polish on the back so it wasnt visible by the front.. without it there were a few scuffs from where i pulled away the sticker (as you get).

I didn’t have to paint it as the DS case is naturally light grey. I cut some black vinyl to size, stuck it down in the appropriate places inside the DS, then using an exacto knife, cut the details out of that.

I went for the style of the original DS with the black middle, but didn’t quite get there.. I would have had to have dont the top piece and removed the other vinyl bits and I didn’t fancy doing that… still it looks pretty good.

I cut the button holes in the top of the lid and stuck the NES buttons through after carefully measuring. I had a slight slip when it come to cutting the Select & Start buttons so theyre slightly out of place, but not that that really matters, it still looks great! Because of how long the Start and Select buttons were, I stuck pins through the two of them both to limit how much sticks out the case. It did the job well!

I touched up the NES face sticker with super glue and stuck it down, it’s relatively straight considering the mistake I made with the Start and Select.

I can’t wait to rip appart the DS lite and give that a Gameboy / Colour style! I just wonder how much room there is in it…
