I came across the blog of a certain John K today and was extremely excited. John Kricfalusi is best known as the creator of Ren & Stimpy. He is certainly a twisted puppy with a warped sense of humor. Oh, and he has mad animation skills.
For those of you who don’t know, I have an Bachelors in Animation. I’m not actually in the animation industry (took a turn towards advertising) but I still try to follow it closely and I still have many friends in it. Well, one time during college we went to an animation festival in Ottawa Canada and John K happened to be one of the speakers.
John got up on stage and presented some of the most bizarre and shocking animated shorts I’ve ever seen. Mind you, this was a auditorium packed full of perverse and jaded animators who had seen it all. Well, John K proved us wrong and showed us stuff that I wouldn’t dare describe here on 4cr.
At some point during John K’s speech I felt the urge to talk to the man. Well, actually I just felt the urge to scream like a hooligan. So, what did I do? During a quiet moment I yelled across the entire auditorium, “Show me your t*ts!” Mature, I know. Good old John took it in stride. He looked down at his shirt and made some witty comment about not having anything worth seeing. The whole crowd got a good laugh and I will forever have a nice, stupid John K story.
Wow, cool stuff! I dont really know much about drawing or animation, but I can appreciate talent like John’s and the people linked to from his blog. I spent the last hour looking at all this stuff… Amazing!!
