Taito released the two first official screenshots of Cooking Mama. I’m not sure what she is cooking, but those little rolls sure look delicious. They look like hot dog rolls. I wonder where you see the recipe you need to follow.
I’ll be following this title closely. Until then, practice cooking in your own kitchen, so when the game comes out you’ll already be a culinary chef.

Those roll things are fried shrimp, I forgot the name for it… Tempura I think.

Bombs is right. It is tempura. I’m not sure why I’m hyped about it even though I don’t exactly know how it plays.

tempura that you’ll always remember. tempura that will never forget.

Yes it’s tempura. My girlfriend used to work at a sushi place for over two years. That stupid little cartoon of it has now made me hungry for it.
They might as well sell five pounds of fat with this game.

:: had this for lunch ::
Yum!

It’s regular fried shrimp. Tempura shrimp either has a smooth batter before cooking or a very pieced on batter after frying. I wonder how do they get shrimp to lay straight…
NekoTsukimi - 01.20.06 1:08 am
by using a bamboo skewer
Shushu - 01.20.06 1:39 am
Prawn Katsu! (Prawns covered in batter and breadcrumbs and then deep-fried).
Nick - 01.20.06 2:46 am
It appears to be Ebi (Shrimp) Furai (Fried): Shrimp fried with panko (a Japanese coarse breadcrumb) batter.
Tempura uses a batter made with flour and egg.
Katsu is also cooked in panko batter, but it is only called Katsu if it uses chicken or pork. Ebi farai is never called Katsu.
As a side note there are three types of katsu:
Ton Katsu: The more traditional Pork katsu
Menchi/Minchi Katsu: Minced Meat Katsu
Chikin Katsu: Chicken. Who would have guessed.
take care

I can’t wait, though I do hope the game is a bit more multidimensional and requires more multitasking than cooking one or two things at once..
Otherwise the early stuff will get cold,
Hopefully you can pan to other equipment around the kitchen.

Or having more than one DS :O!!! and doing things on all of them
Edgar Doiron - 01.20.06 7:41 am
I hope this game does come out here. It’ll atleast give me a cooking game to play since I missed the awesome game, “I’m the Chef” AKA “Oreri no Ryuri”.

Edgar Doiron - 01.20.06 11:09 pm
Man, wouldn’t it be awesome as a DS to DS game. You can do iron chef-like battles. Man, that would be awesome times infinity.
