Well, as most of us expected, there was no magical DS redesign unveiled today. Oh well. It will come eventually… and it will be awesome.
Clearly, Nintendo DS continues to be one of the most popular and talked-about video game systems available. Through 2005, some 13 million units have sold worldwide. Nintendo is always looking for ways to improve its games and systems, but we have nothing to announce at this time.
So while we wait for an official redesign, why don’t you check out another fan-made mockup. Actually, there are about seven of them, running through a bunch of different designs, over at Pixelsnack. And, of course, there is always our DS Redesign Mockup Page on the sidebar.

I’ve seen alot of mock-ups lately and I must say, I would gladly buy some of them. Too bad no redesign was announced today; even tho I know it would have made angry some fans :p
We’ll have to wait for what Nintendo has in the future then ^^

But the original news came from Lik-sang didn’t it? Located in Hong-Kong so the 16th is only just beginning there

i really hope that the redesign isnt drastically different, i just got my DS and as a customer I’d feel really cheated if all of a sudden a new DS popped out of nowhere

I bet the redesign has a functionality that connects to the revolution.

I hope the re-design has a more comfortable D-Pad, face buttons, and a touch screen more resistant to scratches.

I’m thinking it also may have an analog thing like the psp and dont worry, I dont own a psp I’m a hardcore nintendo Fanboy!

The redesign isnt going to have any extra features…it will be like the upgrade from GBA to SP or Micro.

I think they will show it at E3 along with the Revo.

Nice site, good ideas. But a bit newbie that they keep writing Game Boy as Gameboy -_-.
I think there will be a smaller cheaper NDS when sales are going down. Then there will also be a sort of Platinum or Player’s Choice serie.
All that I want is SNES-style ABXY buttons.

Hmmm.. Fank
You got me there… I’ll see if it’s possible to change all Gameboys to Game Boy : )

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I like the DS the way it is.

If they’d redesign it… DON’T GET RID OF THE CLAMSHELL!
I like the way it can fold up. I don’t like a big screen, totally exposed to everything =( The only thing when I want a screen exposed, is when it’s small enough to put in your pocket without a problem. Hence the GBM or mobile phones. Otherwise it’s a no-go for me. Even the original GBA is too big to put in your pocket…

Those redesign on this webpage are just silly, Nintendo wouldn’t commit suicid like that, they can’t make a new console with a unified screen since new games wouldn’t work on the good ol’ DS, it may eventually bring some benefit on short term (with some new sells, eventho i think it’s pretty hard to beat a 20$ DS sold 150$ by millions …), but would just kill the future revolution, who’d buy a Nintendo console when it comes out if a new & better one is coming one year later?
One is quite interesting tho, the iriver g10 rip off, with a clamshell it would be pretty nice, i just wonder how usable the buttons would be …
AC - 01.17.06 3:04 pm
hmmm.. AC… check below on the page, New Game Boy Pt. 3.. I also did some clamshell or dual screen mock-ups…
Ronny - 01.17.06 3:37 pm
I wasn’texpecting it anyway, it is too soon and it is still doing really well.

Maybe at E3? You never know.
