Those cute little worms are back in full force for some classic 2D brawls on your Nintendo DS. Ign gets their hands-on an early version of the game and offers a first look on the actual gameplay.
Presentation wise, Worms: Open Warfare seems to follow the classic Worms formula while making great use of the 2nd screen for item selection, maps and more. But what do I hear? Is it you, devoted Worms fan, that is crying in a corner? What? Team17 doesn’t offer single cart multiplayer functionality nor online play for this Worms title? It’s just too bad, because online Worms would kick major buttock. We’re still 2 months away from its release, so let’s wish realy hard that’s we’ll see those features in the final version.
But for now, go read the Ign preview and check out the media section for some gameplay videos.

lol, no online and no single-cart multiplayers ? Why even bother making that game…seriously!

Hopefully you’ll at least be able to play hot seat by passing the DS around.

Is this surprising from a company that released a console version of Worms that required you to pass one controller around for multiplayer play?

Lazy thats all I have to say.

This is quite bogus, there’s no other word.
But, fans will love it since it’s not 3D so okay, let’s go with “maybe”.

Wow what a waste. Biggest let down of 2006 so far.

Looks disappointing… A friend of mine has got worms for his mobile, and even that looks better… Must be because the DS has got a higher resolution, but the graphics aren’t higher detail…
Well the gameplay will of course be solid simply because Worms rocks, but without single cart multiplayer the whole game loses its point. I guess we will continue to pass the mobile around to play multiplayer…

why would anybody buy this game? it would have been an unstoppable hit if they had wifi support…

No online, no sale. The N-Gage version of Worms has online!
