Seeing as how no one ever gives the compliments where they’re really deserved:

Mediocre game: Pariah for the PC. It’s a beautiful application of the Unreal engine, the weapon upgrade feature is kind of neat, the mapping tools are fantastic, but the otherwise decent storyline was forced and not very deep, and I blew through the gameplay in just a few hours. Very disappointing.

^^ Nick: LOL!!

Totally agree on Ouendan - have it, don’t understand a single word, but totally enjoy it. That’s because the game somehow always manages to tell you what’s going on. (But the spinners are SOOO hard
)
Btw I planned to buy Killer 7 after it appeared in nominees for best story on Gamespot (or did it even win?…) but now that you say it’s mediocore… Don’t know whether I should… Come on persuade me here… (or don’t if it isn’t worth the money)

I liked Killer 7.

I was at EB Games right after Christmas and this little kid, who was strangely very concerned about ESRB ratings, picked up Elf Bowling and his eyes lit up like he had just uncovered the greatest game ever made. I wanted to say something to him since he was teetering between that game and Mario and Luigi DS… yeah. While trying to make up his mind, an older kid came up and told the little boy that EA’s “Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects” game for the DS was the best game out right now. The way this kid went on about how awesome Marvel Nemesis was made me wonder if this older kid was some plant by EA to get people to pick up the game. Luckily, the younger boy’s father seemed to be well versed in the differences between awesome, mediocre, and crappy games and chose Mario & Luigi.
But anyway, great podcast! I found myself laughing out loud while riding the bus home.

I really enjoyed Killer 7. It has a great plot and a very interesting atmosphere and art slyle. I even found myself liking the on-rails movement system after I got used to it. But it is definately not a game for everyone. Personally I feel it is good to pick up for the story and experiance alone. I bought it and don’t regret it al all but there are just a few issues that stopped this game from being the killer app it could have been. I say If you planned to buy it, go ahead, it is one of the most origianal games in a long time and one of my favorite games from 2005.

I have to say…the Podcast is the main reason I come here

Some good laughs
Really Good Podcast guys!
Love the Jap Games with Pda script and absolutely loved the Round table

Great podcast as always, guys. Though I think you dropped the ball by not mentioning Under the Knife as a mediocre game of 2005.. That game and Trace Memory were two of my most anticipated games for the DS this year, and they both ended up being very very very ‘meh’.
Also Vinnk, hifive for mentioning OSU! TATAKAE! OUENDAN!!!!!!!!!! That is easily my favorite game for the DS, even though hits such as MK:DS and AC:WW are finally out… Ouendan is just great in every way.

Mediocre game of 2005 for me: StarFox Assault. I’m a HUGE, and I mean HUGE fan of the StarFox series… but hey, although Assault was a decent game… decent isn’t anywhere near what a StarFox game deserve. The game had some really awesome parts, but also a lot of really mediocre parts, and the rest were those crappy parts… The good stuff was mainly the overall design and all the lore the game brought to the StarFox series as a whole, but aside from that, the gameplay was great on the flying parts, the on-foot parts was slightly annoying. In the end, I had way to high expectations, sadly. As the game was in development so long, I really expected more. I haven’t unlocked everything in it, it wasn’t as interesting as getting all the medals on the N64 version, know as Lylat Wars here in Europe.
