I’ve noticed some reference to other games in the Animal Crossing Wild World, like the red Mario hat, a green Luigi hat, and a Princess shirt. 4cr reader spin_cycle wrote in recently with some other interesting tidbits though:
Hey, I only got Animal Crossing like a week ago but I’ve been playing it non stop since (great game!!!). Anyways, I know there are many secret/not-so-secret things hidden within the game, examples include one of my characters referring to an old friend who wore green and used to get objects from the sky using a boomerang (link), a red hat for sale in the tailors shop called big brothers hat and of course people referring to a beauty store called “nintendique”.
However it was only just recently, that I saw for sale in the tailors store and bought what was referred to as an HMD, it was clearly a Head Mounted Display and I instantly thought of the Virtual Boy… until I noticed some differences, slightly in design but mainly the fact that it was sporting a pearl white design extremely reminiscent of the Revolution’s pearl white design. I looked at it very carefully and thought could this be the extra secret Miyamoto was referring to? To work alongside the controller? It did look like it would go very well with the console and the controller so I thought maybe… what do you guys think?

So did you guys find any other references like these to more Nintendo related stuff?

CoffeeMan - 01.03.06 3:08 am
sounds like a big stretch…
but it would be a cool way to announce things for the revolution
TakaM - 01.03.06 3:14 am
…and the plot thickens…
octorok - 01.03.06 3:16 am
i have one of those, i never thought of it as a hint though…
this reminds me of the video clips on the NoA website of “Reggie and Friends”
Ghost - 01.03.06 3:39 am
Hey, you have the same flooring as me!

“So did you guys find any other references like these to more Nintendo related stuff?”
Well there is the Triforce, Master Sword and Arwing, as well as the other hacked Nintendo-themed items (Blue Falcon, Pikmin, and “Mario Theme”).
ChemicalBomb - 01.03.06 4:00 am
just a thought:
I recall that Reggie said Nintendo would reveal EVERYTHING about the revolution at 9:00am-ish on May 9th(I think) 2006…
Has anyone set their AC game clock ahead to this moment??
octorok - 01.03.06 4:04 am
MEGATON!
VideoGamerJ - 01.03.06 4:31 am
I almost considered going that far in the future, but dude, I dont want to screw over my game. So many weeds and stuff…
VideoGamerJ - 01.03.06 4:35 am
Somebody call the Hardy Boys
Rumas - 01.03.06 4:36 am

spin_cycle - 01.03.06 5:52 am
Interesting but I was heart broken at E3 so I’m now forever sceptical.
Ben - 01.03.06 6:37 am

grand ma ma - 01.03.06 7:04 am
please please please.
can we ask spin cycle to make a longer video maybe 30s
and just do a full spin like on a catwalk.
this could be the first time we see the nintendo visor.
if this was in relation to vboy, it would be called vboy its called hmd which says alot.
does it have any purpose in the game apart from aesthetic purposes.
this is something big i’d bet my life on it.
grand ma ma - 01.03.06 7:18 am
Head Mounted Displays are a commonplace item in the japanesse electronics market. I wouldn’t think anything of it.
Slow down, guys.
John - 01.03.06 7:34 am
i saw the same thing on mines but bothered not to buy it.
EOM - 01.03.06 7:57 am
well i s’pose i could make a longer video, but i wouldnt be able to send it. you see i only have an msn account (crappy i know) and it only allows me to attach files up to 10Mb, so i just decided to do a vid proving that it was on a functioning DS in AC and not some sort of stupid hoax, i spose i could do a vid the same length of time purely of a catwalk like turn to show the full thing, but really the two pics do really describe it all so theres not much need
spin_cycle - 01.03.06 8:36 am
There’s the Super Mario Bros. brick pattern (for shirts). You can get it from Wendel.
TDH - 01.03.06 9:10 am
…Oh, yeah, I bet there are tons of hints about the Revolution in ACWW! /:
TheOneGuy - 01.03.06 9:52 am
I’ve gotten a few of these already, but didn’t really think anything of it. After-all, there are already various pinball tables, arcade machines, tvs, stereos, why not a crazy virtual helmet? Honestly, I wouldn’t get too too excited about this…
Joseph - 01.03.06 10:21 am
I bought a pink box from Nook the other day that had a Gamecube and controller in it.
Chris - 01.03.06 10:25 am
I just got the HMD the other day. I would have never thought about it being a hint of any kind…
Seth - 01.03.06 10:36 am
Some people just can’t seem to let the virtual reality display theory go…
Ryan - 01.03.06 12:37 pm
I’m not really into the VR headset theory, what I think is the last revo secret is that the camera will follow the “Revmote” position , like you are looking at a window not a flat screen , I remember when i was a kid I wanted to see what’s inside the TV screen by looking from the left and right, may be it will be possible with the Revo !!, It’s possible , never done before and truly revolutionnary, a headset is a good thing , like an addon for specific games, so why not !, my worry is the price though.
MaCrAmaN - 01.03.06 1:08 pm
OMG, I just bought a stereo in Animal Crossing which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Nintendo is moving into the consumer electronics business. Watch out Sony!
Way too read too much into things. Next thing you know, somebody will be writing a thousand word article about one offhand comment that KK Slider makes… oh wait.
nowak - 01.03.06 1:35 pm
I also got a park bench with a Nintendo logo on it.
I love walking around with the HMD on and a huge afro my wife gave me. Hysterical!
Kamalot - 01.03.06 1:39 pm
Yeah me….alot…… Triforce,Big bro hat(mario),Little bro hat(luigi),Little bro mustache, Big bro mustache!! and a Nintendobench and a moon(legend of zelda majoras mask)
Nintendofreak - 01.03.06 8:28 pm
OH yeah I forgot theres an item called “Arcade Machine” if you look closely at it the green and red characters look exactly like mario and luigi.
Nintendofreak - 01.03.06 8:33 pm
Anyone else think Viewtiful Joe when you saw HMD?
Anyone?
Fish - 01.03.06 8:51 pm
Oh, and the Vacuum Cleaner looks suspiciously alot like the Poltergust 3000 on Luigi’s Mansion.
Fish - 01.03.06 8:51 pm
I have the HMD in my game…
Stevoi - 01.03.06 8:55 pm
Spin_cycle!
I can’t believe you put a video of it on! Which camera did you even use? Mom’s video camera on a memory stick? Seriously, if I knew you were gonna do this I woulda’ lent you my digital camera and converted it myself into some nice proper fine xvid stuff. Too late now I guess.
In case you’re wondering, it’s your brother.
By the way, it looks hella like the emagin headgear www.emagin.com that was mentioned on gamasutra a few days ago I think. I forget where but I heard a wild rumour about some kind of link with Nintendo. Have to say though, it is looking very generic for a HMD so I’m kinda guessing no. Damn, why didn’t I get AC yet? More importantly, why didn’t you get it for me?
elmer - 01.03.06 10:44 pm
Yeah, Fish. I do. What does it mean in VJ, though? I never knew.
Meh at this being Rev related, though.
nintendoFREAK411 - 01.03.06 10:47 pm
Nintendique… Nintendo I-Que…..HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Hitmaker - 01.04.06 2:24 am
nah elmer i used my own cam you know, the new one, im not too good with film plus i did it after you left so i couldn’t really get your help, is it that bad?
spin_cycle - 01.04.06 3:35 am
Rupees!
While visiting my town, my brother looked in my snowman dresser and it gave him a message saying he found 50 rupees, but that they were worthless around here…
MisterMichaud - 01.04.06 2:32 pm
The game also has a space station you can buy and put in your house. Does that mean Nintendo is planning on making space stations too?
Moron - 01.04.06 2:40 pm

Elmer, I was thinking about the emagin headset too, especially after reading this BBC news article - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4580332.stm

Absolutely false. As someone stated earlier, HMD’s are a normal item over in Japan. Plus, Nintendo wouldn’t be boasting it’s technology with the remote and the tv so much, like how it works on nearly all tv types, if it were just gonna make you where a HMD and not even use a tv. Actually, there’d pretty much be no reason to have it hook up to a tv. Plus, it wouldn’t look that big and clunky.
Using the game to drop hints on the Revolution is a cool theory though, but most doubtful.

Anyone remember the n64 that wrinkly was playing in donkey kong country 3…
