I came across this absolutely charming indie comic today called Mouse Guard. The comic was originally self-published by creator David Petersen in black and white, but come February a full color printing will be available from ASP Books. The comic, as the title says, revolves around a group of guard mice.
They are not simply soldiers that fight off intruders; rather, they are guides for common mice looking to journey without confrontation from one hidden mouse village to another. The Guard patrol borders, find safeways and paths through dangerous territories and treacherous terrain, watch weather patterns, and keep the mouse territories free of predatory infestation.

I really like the artwork associated with this comic and the coloring is well done.
Who knew mice had it so tough?
David Petersen (http://www.davidpetersen.net/) has some artwork of mythical creatures as well as Hellboy and Marvel and DC characters. Good stuff!

It might become available in stores like Barnes & Noble, but youd probably have a better chance just buying it online. Ill keep an eye out and let people know how they can buy it once its released.

Just had to say that this is a fantastic little comic, my roomate picked up the first issue months back. I guess it must have been a very independent printing we got ahold of if it is just getting a ‘real’ publishing run now. Its definitely the kind of story you can share with anyone you know, unless they absolutely, completely, and totally hate mice/cute things
