IRC resident ObeyGiant shared an interesting find with us this morning; a preview of a Nintendo DS port of Dragon’s Lair.
Featuring the first 4 levels and using the new Caimans Video Codec for Nintendo DS, you can download and try the preview for yourself if, of course, you’re one of the lucky dudes who have the hardware needed to run homebrew applications on your DS.
More information about the Caimans Video Codec here.

I hate that game. Especially the NES version of it.

I loved that game. My friend had it on the Adams Computer (anyone remember that thing, the games were on cassette tapes, crazy). Cool idea for a homebrew project.

Dragon’s Lair is probably the only successful FMV video game, ever. I bought the Windows MPEG-1 based version years ago…. shocking to think that it could fit on a little DS card nowadays.

I tried this game so many times, but never beat it. I did enjoy it, though. If I had the means to do so, I’d surely play the “demo.”

I love Don Bluth animation. I have this game for my PS2, the DVD version of the real FMV game. This game brings back so many memories. Anyone ever play the Gameboy Color port from Capcom? It was pretty smooth but they had to take out a lot of rooms/levels just to make it fit.

Dragon’s Lair 3D for the Gamecube was a lot of fun. It takes the original Dragon’s Lair arcade game and expanded it a lot.

This may seem like a silly question to ask, but when did Dragon’s Lair become public domain or what not? I hadn’t heard this.

This is pretty cool; no documentation as to what the buttons do though. Stumbled through the first few areas….
