It’s time to take a look at the upcoming comic book trades for the month of December. There are a bunch of good collections coming out, including classic collections of Marvel books. However, for my money this month, DC Comics is king with trades of Fables, Tom Strong and Wonder Woman. Plus, you can’t overlook Conan.

Collecting issues #34-41 of writer Bill Willingham’s Eisner Award-winning creation, HOMELANDS follows Boy Blue on a mission of revenge as he uncovers the Adversary’s true identity! Plus, the 2-part story of Jack’s adventures in Hollywood and the one-shot story of Mowgli’s return to Fabletown.
The fourth amazing collection of Tom Strong in softcover for the first time, collecting issues #20-25 of the acclaimed series! Witness the introduction of a newly discovered Strong family member, Tom Strong’s best pal and more!

Wonder Woman: Eyes Of The Gorgon
A new volume collecting WONDER WOMAN #206-213! The deadly Medousa comes calling, and Wonder Woman’s world is turned completely upside-down. After a terrible sacrifice, the Amazing Amazon must prove herself once again to her comrades in the JLA and to the world.

Conan and the Jewels of Gwahlur (Hardcover)
P. Craig Russell, the artist best known for adapting literary works to comics, applies his legendary talents to Conan in this adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s “The Jewels of Gwahlur,” one of Conan’s last adventures before becoming king.
A young woman, having made a string of bad choices, finds herself the pawn of mercenaries-one of which is Conan of Cimmeria. As the former dancing girl poses as the dead oracle of a primitive cult, Conan puts his experience as a thief and a soldier together in pursuit of some of the most prized jewels in the world-the Teeth of Gwahlur!
Featuring a sixteen-page sketchbook and an interview with Russell covering his career and creative process on this book, this handsome hardcover not only highlights one of fantasy art’s greatest living talents, it shows once again that Howard’s original Conan tales remain unsurpassed.

Where To Buy
So, what comics are you guys picking up this month? Id love to hear what others are reading.

I’d LOVE to get into comics. I had never read anything more than Archie as a kid.
Recently, a band I listen to have been putting out comics to coincide with a story that is going on amidst the music and lyrics, and bought them and had a lot of fun, so I’d really like to check out actual comics.

Well, you should defintely check out the 4 I highlighted. All of them are awesome. There is something for everyone there too.
Nick - 12.03.05 3:05 am
I’ll have to.
I have a big gap on my holiday wishlist with nothing to fill it, so some comics should suffice.

Hellsing: Impure Souls Anime Manga
Matt - 12.03.05 3:34 am
Scott Pilgrim is tottally sweet. I encourage everyone to pick it up.

Outlawed: You’re talking about Coheed and Cambria, right?
While they are an awesome band, and I love the comics for the story, the art and dialogue sort of suck. The old comics were terribly ameteurish, and the new one with Christopher Shy is just really blurred and photoshopped and the story just really disjointed and vague.
As a companion to the songs, the comics are pretty cool, but as comics they’re absolutely terrible.
You should really get into comics, as they can be so much better than that.

That Conan one sounds pretty good, I might have to pick that one up.
Luke314pi - 12.03.05 3:06 pm
Yes, I was talking about C&C. I do agree, the comics aren’t great, but I suppose it’s hard to get all that together while on tour and recording, so I respect their efforts for what they are.
The Fables series Nick highlighted sounds like my cup of tea, so I added Fables Vol.1 Legends in Exile to my wishlist.
outlawed - 12.03.05 4:08 pm
Finally, more Fables! Fables is one of the best things that Vertigo has published since Sandman. Every single one of you needs to go read it. =P
Greg - 12.05.05 12:59 pm
You cannot go wrong with Fables. Its awesome on so many levels. I would highly recommened it. It’s even one of those titles that comic book shy (or hating) people seem to enjoy. Truely a universal book.
Nick - 12.05.05 11:52 pm
Scott Pilgrim is all that matters here. Also Local.
Oni Press 4 Life.
